Be Excellent To Each Other

I'm suddenly unable to connect both of my Xbox 360s (one Premium, one Elite) to my Linksys WAG54G2 over the Wi-Fi connection.

I've tried with both an official Microsoft Wireless Adapter, and a Wireless Bridge (Netgear.)

It's been working fine for at least two years, but now I get endless problems. It refuses to connect completely. If I power-cycle the router, it'll sometimes then work once it's all powered up again, but it'll stop working as soon as I turn the Xbox power off.

Tried updating router firmware to latest, but to no avail.

I struggle to believe it's a problem with the Xbox as it's affecting both of mine.

Any ideas what I can try, short of buying a new router?

Does it work when you run wired?

Can other computers use the wireless connection?

Wireless connection is fine with other computers and iPhones/iPads.

Not tried wired, gonna borrow a 10m cable from work today.

New router on the same frequency in the area? Try change wireless band.

I believe I've tried that, but I'll give it a shot anyway as I can't remember and wouldn't have ever thought to check that.

I gave up on Linksys because they kept breaking with similar problems. The entire thing would break or just the wireless wouldn't work. I think it probably relates to the no lead in solder thing that the xbox's suffers from, where eventually (on some models) the components connections fail. Try rapping it up in a towel and place it the oven... or something like that.

Actually see if someone else can connect to the wireless, if they can't grab yourself a new one. Or if your really desperate try loading one of the alternative firmwares on it as it *could* be software, but I doubt it.
