I'm about to upgrade from sky+ (when I take into account moving my line from bt it's actually the same price per month, and cheaper for the first 3 months) to sky hd, I opted for the 1TB version, so have an initial outlay.
Now I know if I take my card out of the sky+ box I can't watch the stuff I've recorded as it asks me to insert the card.
Does anyone know if there would there be an issue if I had both boxes connected to my TV and swapped the card between them (until all the stuff on the planner of my sky+ box had been watched) or is there an easy way to transfer the recorded stuff from the old box to the new one?
I am about to do a google search, and look on the sky forums, but I thought I might ask here too.

I think Sky pair the card to the box, so if you get a new box installed, the installer should do that for you. I think you'll then find it won't let you watch any of your recorded stuff on the old box. I think your only options are watch it, or dvd/video recorder.

I'm doing the install.
Google and sky forums seem to agree, I can't use the knew box until I've watched all the stuff on the old one or if I use the new box I can't watch the old stuff.
I can't believe they don't have some process (ie allow the card to work in both boxes for a short time) to ease the transistion.

At least if you do it, it'll be up to you when you phone sky to pair the card to the new box, but yeah, I think you'll be stuck with one or the other.

Yeah,
I've seen things where you can do that, I don't really want to invalidate the warranty on the new box though.
I'd rather choose between no hd or not being able to watch the shows on the old box.
I think I'll watch lots of TV over the next few days, and make sure everyone else does too.
I can acquire most things, I guess from other sources.
