Complimenting our bad album cover thread I present a list of oddly named footballers. List your favourite!

If we did American Football players names, the list would be endless. As a taster, I give you Mark Thrash, Chad Ochocinco, Tank Johnson and the all-time classic, Bum Phillips.

I always liked Lawyer Malloy and Peerless Price.

Also, Chad Ochocinco is cheating, as he changed his name to his shirt number.

My favourites are Didier Drogba which we always corrupt to Diddley Dogber, and Man U midfielder Nani which means what in Japanese.

A couple of Brazilians playing in America: Jazz and Bismarck.

That's according to SWOS back in the day.

Off topic, but related. I very much like the way the phrase 'Al Queda Leader' rolls around the mouth

I like that Dutch striker's name, Jan Vinegar of Heffalump or whatever it is.

(I know the right spelling, I just prefer mine)

Marco Boogers and Nordin Wooter were names that made me chuckle. Not that they're particularly silly, mind, but they do stand out.

Not a footballer, but the runner who's surname is something like Ramalamalarina always makes me think of Apu.

He played for Benfica during Greame Souness reign with lots of other crap british players. He's still one of the most fondly remembered, even if only because of his silly name.

And my favorite from the list is clearly Pedro Power.

Siphiwebe Tsabalala's manager is called Jazzman Mahlakgane.

I still like Exodus Geohagan.

And last night we were playing against Angle Rangle or however it is spelt.

This far into the thread and no mention of Uwe Fuchs? Pshaw.

Hell, should have been on ice hockey. Cal Clutterbuck, Happy Day but the guy I always wanted to sign for my team was Robin Big Snake. We'd have sold a million replica shirts.

True story for you. Happy Day had just joined his new team, was out on the ice before the General Manager had arrived to watch the team practice. The GM got there and was sat next to the boards. Day skated over and held out his hand, "Hello, sir, Happy Day", the GM shook it and said, "Sure is, son." and walked off to his seat.
