I fucking hate the thieving bastards.

The GameCube was such a fantastic little console that I thought the Wii would have been brilliant, but they chose to go down the quick buck shovel ware route. Nice controller (if battery hungry) but a console ruined by a shit company.

Should have sorted out friend codes too you fucking Belmers.

The thing I loved about the GameCube was the little handle. I loved that thing.

I am still unimpressed with the Wiimote. Even with the magic plugin doobry it doesn't do what they said it would when the console came out.

My Wii is still in a packing box, and I moved at the end of August 2010, which about sums things up.

I, too, fucking loved my Gamecube. Especially Eternal Darkness.

The Gamecube was the shit. My favourite of the 3 consoles from that generation.

I quite like the Wii.

The handle gave the impression that, if it came to it, you could pick it up and swing it around as an improvised bludgeoning weapon.

My Wii is sat next to my TV, but we disconnected the cable ages back and never got round to plugging it back in.

I really liked the DS Lite as a piece of kit but, like the GBA, it was sullied by a horrible good to gash ratio.

Someone else hit the nail on the head. We are no longer Nintendos intended market.

The advert for the 3DS drives me potty! The bloke saying "I love the way his little legs trail behind him" about Pilotwings Resort.... Seriously... that's the best thing he's got to say about the game.

I may regret this, but... What were stars? And how did they steal them?

Reward scheme. Games come with a serial to register on their web site, and when you get enough, you can get some cool free stuff like wallpapers, screensavers, enough Wii points to buy 20% of a game, or if you save up a shitload of points and are lucky enough to be on their web site when they update it, actual free games.

I managed to get Donkey Konga and Zelda: Collectors Edition back in the Gamecube days.

The T&Cs say that Nintendo reserve the right to delete people's stars after X amount of time, and because they are greedy cunts, they did so.

Or more accurately, they introduced the ability to take all the stars into the t&c after I'd added in lots. And then proceeded to only offer quite points in such limits numbers that I was unable to use them. Despite, you know, them not being a physical item.

My children used the wii twice then went back to the 360.
Dunno if I've mentioned this but there little hands are too small for the 360 controller so one handles movement/holds it and the other takes the triggers/buttons on the right. What's impressive is that they have played burnout revenge together online and whooped some serious arse. Without communicating with each other (my son is non verbal) it's like watching some modern day children of the corn thing.

I wouldn't say that the Wii lacked good games or that we aren't their market. They want everyone to play with their toys really. It's that Nintendo hasn't created a really new game in a long time that captures gamers like Pikmin or Chibi-Robo and make them go "Oooo, it's shiny and new". They have lost the "core" gamers imagination and so have lost their hearts.

No new franchises + non-outstanding sequels to existing franchises* = gamer boredom.

When was the last time if ever there was pacing of the floors and repeated checking of release dates for a Wii game?

I had six gamecubes. I bought five of them when Argos was selling them for £10 including a copy of Donkey Konga and bongos. I sold off the bongo/game sets and so essentially got the Gamecubes for free, which I then gave to whoever wanted one.

I also used to love my Gamecube to a meeellion pieces.

I remember getting one of those discs that allowed you to play games from other regions, along with a copy of Animal Crossing from the US (as it came out here about two years later, grrr!) and it took about 20 goes to get it working. I was so upset I thought it would never work. On the 20th or so go it worked! I was so scared that it would never work again that I played for 20 hours straight. Square eyed, laying on the floor.

It booted up every time first time from then on as it happens.

My g.f. does that too. She bought her 3DS in preparation for Animal Crossing. She's also looking forward to the Zelda game, the Ocarina of Time remake, after being introduced to the series by the DS.

I have that disc too! I remember at the time, Animal Crossing was the game for import-savvy hardcore gamers, the sort cult, quirky Japanese-made game that import nerds love. Still prefer the GC Animal Crossing to the DS and Wii sequels in many way, it's like the later games had more stuff taken out than was added.

Digging up NES games in the GC version was a special treat. I think I got Animal Crossing as soon as it was released in the US. My heart almost broke a little when I didn't think it was going to ever boot up!

I am looking forward to the 3DS version very much. I kind of understand what you mean about taking away from eh original, but then again I do appreciate the online aspect and larger house/multi room elements for storing MORE STUFF, plus I cannot deny that designing things in the Able Sisters' is FAR better both on Wii and DS. Oh, and not crossing between blocks - the scrolling earth on the later games is a lot nicer.

Anyway, it's going to be ace. And you can be Mayor. Mayor Mimi of Neasden. That will be ace. :luv: :luv: :luv:

Theres always rumors of a sequel or remake , and of course your GC version will run on your backwards compatible project Cafe (although the 'corrupt disk' / reboot / memory flaws are going to look out of place as you descend into madness !)

I wonder if there'll be a lot of complaints around this? With your 'proper' gamers there's going to be some amount of understanding when old shit gets turned off and most people will be moving on to the next gen of whatever-it-is anyway. The kind of market the Wii was successful with though are surely just going to expect something they've bought to essentially work forever; in the same way my uncle and various other adults I know who own a DS just can't wrap their head around the fact that they can't play the new Prof Layton game without buying a 3DS. They're utterly convinced it's just Nintendo trying to make a fast buck even if you point out that the DS is over nine years old and they need to move on. Obviously it'll depend how much people are actually using it but I'd have thought stuff like Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii would still be getting some play.
