I'm probably letting myself in for an organisational nightmare, but let's have a CD Swap!

Everyone makes three CDs of ace music, and then we send them to each other.

THE RULES

You must create three CDS of music you like. It can be stuff you think is awesome or cheesy, that you want other people to get into, that you think the recipient might like, or whatever comes out of clicking shuffle in your music player.

The CD has to be playable in a standard CD player. It cannot be an mp3 CD. You are being constrained to around 80 mins.

Try to fill the CD. Remember, you will be receiving three CDs in return, and you want as much ace stuff to listen to as possible.

You are strongly encouraged to have fun designing the CD cover, but a hastily burnt CD with marker pen scrawled on the front is just as acceptable, as long as the music has been chosen with care.

To avoid monotony, only 3 songs by the same artist are allowed per CD. That's if you repeat any at all. Although not disallowed, it is also disappointing to get a CD that covers only one genre, so be creative and vary your stuff.

You don't have to include a tracklist, but it's ace if you do, as it lets that person perhaps go and discover more songs by that same artist. Really cool people will include track notes on why they've picked it. Again think what kind of CD you'd like to receive.

INFO

If you want in, please say so, but to confirm for definite, send me a PM with the address you will want any CDs sending to.

After all entries are in (I'll allow a week ish), I'll send you back a PM with three addresses for you to send your CDs to.

You do not have to send the same CD to each person. If you want to see who you get and tailor the music to them, that's cool. If you want to send the same CD to each recipient that's exactly as cool (and less effort)

I have picked three CDs for two reasons:
1) Posting 3 CDs second class in a jewel case should come to a fiver or less.
2) Someone will probably not be able to send their CDS, so their unfortunate recipients will still get a CD in the post, rather than missing out entirely.

I'm not discounting those who live abroad. I checked prices to Canada and Australia as examples, and small packets can be sent for less than £2. However, please say if you are unwilling to send overseas because not everyone has money to burn (just CDs).

THE COOL BIT

All CDs are to be sent as anonymously as possible. So you don't know who you've got your stuff from unless you start investigating postmarks and stuff. Then, you come back, we discuss the tracks, work out who sent stuff, post the covers we made, and all have big fun.

Current entrants:

Malabelm

Myoptikakaka
Markh
DBSnappa
TheVision
Kalmar
Curiosity
Flis
Zardoz

I'm up for it, but it does sound ominously like the Beex Summer Comp deal from the other year, which both Curio and I flopped at.

Indeed we did. I owe both you and The Vision a CD still!

But yes, I would be up for this.

So, it's 3 copies of the same set of tunes?

In, I reckon. I didn't take part in the previous ones but Zardoz sent me his CDs afterwards which I still have and listen to.

I still listen to ones I've received on previous forums.

It's easier to do the same CD 3 times, but if you really want to tailor one to your recipient you can do.

PM me an address for super inclusion please!

I'm interested in listening to the compilations other people make! Whether or not they will feel the same about mine is another matter, but what the heck. In.

Can you make a playlist? Most media players will have an option to then burn that playlist to a CD for you. Let us know what player you use and we'll find instructions.

I think music would be a little loud for that.

I would select the playlist before I went to the library.

You might be surprised at just how noisy some libraries are these days: people chatting, receiving phone calls, children screaming; with nary a shh heard.

In fact, I don't even think they have notices about silence these days.

PMs should now all be sent.

Was checking my outbox and obviously forgot to press Submit on one of them, so had to trawl though double checking.

Anyway, get your CDs in the post as and when you can. There's no deadline, but a couple of weeks at the outside should be more than enough.

If you're not going to use jewel cases, I recommend a couple of bits of cardboard around the disc to stop it getting sent round the rollers in the sorting office.
