Hi chaps,

In memory of my Dad who died on Monday, I'm smartening up for the funeral and this will involve the pruning of my trademark lustrous barnet. The beneficiaries of this will be as follows:

1: St Barnabas Hospice Trust in Lincoln who gave him (and his family) world class care for his last few days.

2: Hat makers of the East Riding

3: My Dyson, which will not have as much of a job to do on the furniture and carpets any more.

4: My bathplug, because ohyougettheidea.

To paraphrase the words of Sir Bob, here's the fucking address, give us your fucking money:

Cheers!

Missed a trick by not getting people to sponsor you to go without cutting your hair for ages first.

Done. Looking forward to the before, mid-way, and after pictures!
Are you planning on stuffing a cushion with it all?

Wait - you're hair is so long it reaches down to your arse?
Goodness.

It gets caught in my arse hair! (and everything else). My hair grows fast. Lewie - as I'll probably regrow it after, that's a bloody good idea.

Muchos taverymuchois to those who've chipped in - having met the £300 if you count gift aid already, I'm considering pushing on further... I know it's a very personal campaign and it's only a charity local to Lincolnshire but the support has been flabbergasting. When people you've never met IRL are chucking in as much as they have been you know that not only is the internet much, much, much more loving than it often seems, but that online friends are as valid a relationship as any (as we learned when Rev. Owen left us not so long ago) and also that I, for one, am a very lucky boy.

Thankyou doesn't even begin to cover it.

It's a start though, and so is the money raised so far. I'll keep this thread posted on developments and I'm planning a little more detail on the circumstances that brought this shearing about in a few days, you don't know what importance a hospice has until someone you love ends up in one. It's as hard to describe as an orgasm, you have to feel it for yourself.

Kern - apparently there's a place one can send hair for wigs for cancer patients.

That fucking stuff didn't get my Dad in the end, though if an infection hadn't done it would have - so I'm more than happy to post my rug off to those lot if I can find them. Should be enough for about 7-10 'Eltons' if they use it carefully.

I hope neither you nor anyone on here ever really find out just how valuable that donation was... I'll post more in the coming days about what a huge difference 20p makes. For now though, you'll have to make do with my unending gratitude.

Cor, thanks man!

As stated on the site it's great to set the bar and see people respond to it, however the next increment will be to £500 and I'm leaving it there no matter how much I raise beyond that. When I began this I figured I could probably get £100 by next weekend so quintuple that would be insanely good going. I'm already flabbergasted at £400 in under a day.

BOOM!

That's £500. Chuffed to fuck, in fact I'm a bit stunned (but still accepting donations).

I'd quite like there to be a word that means thankyou, only more strongerer. If there was, I'd be using it now.

Money flung down with self-aggrandising dramatic flourish. Not having hair I can appreciate the trauma of being about to lose it all, shaved off or through nature's evil process of receding. There are phone numbers you can call to get you through this difficult hair loss friend, use them.

Sorry to hear about your dad though. :( Places like St. Barnabas are wonderful though, and I should remember the good work they do more often. That such places exist and have such excellent people working in them is good to think about when you hear all the negative overblown news nowadays in papers about bad carers and swindlers. They should try running pieces on such places of caring excellence as Barnabas.

It's odd, isn't it.

I remember being in school and being told "You're doing this and it's to raise funds for St. Barnabas' Hospice". Used to happen every few months throughout mu childhood and never asked about it or listened to any explanations of what the place was.

I fucking know now, don't I?

Thanks to this morning's contributors, we're on £645 bit the gift aid on that will come to another 170 if all goes well. I'm starting to believe I can raise a grand for a haircut here. Mad stuff.

Damn, unable to donate hair as they require is to be in generally good condition, brushed through and sent in a ponytail. I've not been able to brush a good percent of mine for about three years.

Detangling spray, about 49p from home bargains. You might need some help with it though.

It's off.

Bloody site won't let me upload half the pictures I'm trying to, despite them all being within the guidelines. Anyway, there's my ponytail cut loose, the rest of it in a pile on the floor and shorn me doing a facebook teenager thing into a mirror.

Total stands at £785.00 which with gift aid is a little under twenty quid shy of the grand. It's going to happen!
