So, a PHP forum I frequent is having a "who can write the best [application type] in sixty minutes". I've been practising - this took me just under 56 minutes, but I'm not sure I'm allowed to use custom frameworks.

Anyway, come and talk to me.

And fear the hideous name.

I don't know how you people get good at this shit.

I've dabbled with programming forever. BASIC on the speccy as a kid and then C and Java (I spent a year making a program that didn't teach you how to play guitar for my dissertation) at uni. HTML stuff for my website.

Thing is it's like when I was learning Spanish. Yeah, I can remember some words and know how to conjugate verbs and whatever but speaking it fluently doesn't even seem possible. Same with programming. I get the concepts and all that, but making actual programs that do things and work and stuff... fuck that.

:this:

...and I actually did a Computer Science degree too.

Gave that shit up pretty damn quick, and now I just tell the pople that can do that programming thing, that what they have done is crap. Much more enjoyable ;)

I wish MyFinger was here to tell us all about that Java book that perplexed Mrs Meaty so.
