As you are a soppy lot, what do you do the special person in your life (not yourself Zardoz)?

Usually nothing, I'm not a massive fan of Valentine's Day. However, this year, as I could do with a break and I'm in a relatively new relationship in which I'm keen to impress, I'm taking her to London for the weekend

I've often thought it would be quite funny to send anonymous cards to people you know as I imagine it's a huge wind-up

Nothing. Neither of us celebrate the day, and I dread to think how busy all of the restaurants will be.

I have an NCT class that evening, so I'll be leering at preggos learning about the wonders of pregnancy.

Nothing. Not to get all bah-humbug about it but the notion of spending our hard-earned cash on shoddily-made tat to appease a holiday that benefits nobody but greetings-card companies doesn't appeal to either of us.

We do a Not-Valentine's Day instead at some point in the next couple of months. We find presents for each other that aren't plush, red or heart-shaped and so require a bit of thought and might actually be wanted and appreciated. And we'll go out for dinner or a day out whenever we can both get time off. Works for us, y'know?

Usually it's a lovely card, a small pressie and watching Serendipity together.

My boss also owns a chocolate company that makes splendid chocs, and we get a staff discount, so some of them are probably in order.

Two weeks ago I'd have told you that I was going to have some really nice flowers sent to her work and took her out for dinner in the evening.

tried to book a decent restaurant, was full, so will cook instead. Will be cheaper, nicer, and more rewarding.
Also I have purchased some jewellery from a friend that makes such items.

I'm going to see Ramsea in Zurich this weekend. On Monday I will travelling back home but I guess we'll be eating out over the weekend as that's the only option, really. I'll be giving him a punch in the throat for telling me the girls in the office he's in are "proper filth".*#

I suppose one could argue that such a 'dish' is somewhat reminiscent of that most romantic of meals - a half dozen oysters - and thus worthy of such a fine setting.
