This is really old, but the post about the girls' school headline reminded me of it.

I'd like to see a video of it doing that.

This is all very interesting, but how would they identify the perpetrators of the 'Silent But Deadly' variety.

"Would you be happy to see people farting anyhow?" asks Mr Chaponda, a trained lawyer. Let's face it, there's not a lot to see, but I know of at least one niche Jap site that used to offer videos of women letting rip. It doesn't appear to be live any more, but there's a transcript of the home page here.

I'd have got away with it if it wasn't for my incessant clock-watching and desire for a pint.

I still want to know what Nervouspete's chatup line is, however.

Aaaaaargh! My phone is really pissing me off. For no apparent reason, a few days ago, one of the buttons stopped working. This wouldn't be so bad, except that the button that stopped working is the menu button.

Until a few hours ago, I could get it to work by sliding the slidey bit back and forth and moving it very carefully into a particular position, but that's stopped working now.

AND I HAVE TWO TEXTS FROM POLISH GIRL. I can't even read them, or contact her to say my phone is screwed :'(

Does anyone know of a way to check text messages online, if you've not previously set that up? I know it's not going to happen, but I have to ask.

Stupid thing. I would look it up in case this is a common problem and there's a fix, but I don't know what model it is. It doesn't have a model number on! Madness.

Can you double click the answer button to open anything up, or other similar trick?

Worst comes to worst pm me her number and I'll pass on a message (no I won't steal her).

Oh, and the model number might be under the battery or inside somewhere.

Are you with friends? Swap sims quickly, just to tell her about your phone n shiz :)

That's annoying though when things like that happen, it's frustrating how lost I am if my battery dies or I leave my phone at home!

Or is there a button that brings up a recent calls list and you can then select to text contact from there?

Or jump on a site that does free SMS messages to say you can't read her most recent ones.

Nope. The menu button is also the answer button, and the 'ok' button. I can do nothing at all now that it's fucked, not even read what I receive.

I want to know what she said mor than anything. She knows my phone is playing up, so I doubt she'll be upset or anything (plus if it only takes one night of missed messages for her to get stroppy, our friendship is never going to last). BUT STILL.

We just got back from a really nice night out, got talking about all sorts of things. I told her the Story of Mentaletta, which I have told only a select few people (because it's so long and ridiculous, and the moral is that I am Best, which is a truth most people can't handle), and she told me about a big problem she's been having for three years, which I actually think I can help with, but am in two minds about doing so. And argh.

I'm bored. I've been bored all day. I saw an ugly sofa in a charity shop but it was cheap and I need a sofa. But then I was all like "how will I get this home? It doesn't have wheels".

Then I remembered malia's trick of windsurfing on a skateboard with a fence panel but the skills didn't transfer.

So I might buy the sofa tomorrow instead and stand on the street looking folorn until someone offers to help me carry it.

Or I could put it outside the shop and sit on it reading a newspaper.

I worked with phones for a while, describe it and chances are I could ID it. Might help with an online search. Otherwise flis has the best suggestion, stick the sim in another mobile.

No. No. No.

She needs to tell me if I should watch Gray's Anatomy or not.

I am up to season 9 of The Simpsons in my ultra marathon of DVDs and I found 2 episodes I'd never seen before, yay!

Apparently, yes. On your head be it. More focus on People she says. Main character is called "McDreamy". It is like catnip to her.

Yeah, I know. I'm talking about doing it anonymously. Plus she wasn't asking for help anywy, she was just venting. I just realised as she was doing so that I could, in fact, sort this out, and since quietly fixing things from afar is my thing, I will consider it more.

I dunno how to describe the phone. It's a samsung one, slidey, with some buttons. I've looked on a site selling samsung phones and they seem to have about 4,000 models, 350 of which look a lot like mine, but aren't.

It looks quite a bit like this one, but the circular button and the bits around it are a little different. The larger picture reveals that it looks only vaguely like this one. Gah.

If that were the problem, I'd have jumped her right then and sorted everything out over the table.

What size camera does it have? If it's a five megapixel, search the g600. If it's less, maybe the d500?

It says "1.3 Mega" on the back. It looks a lot like the G600 though. The number buttons and top grille bit are different, and the two silver buttons are black. Also the screen does not have a really smug looking couple with no sexual chemistry on.

The d500 must have been released about 2006-2007, so is an older model but I think it had 1.3. Oh, also the j600, it came in a few different colours and was released at the same time-ish as the g600. It was the sort of budget/pay as you go version. There was also the 'c' something...c320? C200? No that's not right. Hang on.
Also, I don't know if any site does this but if you google the imei you might model info. If google doesn't have any results then check your networks site. The imei will be displayed behind the battery or if you can press buttons type in *#06# you don't need to press enter or anything, just those keys and it will display.

Found the IMEI thing, cheers. Fancy secret codes! We're through the looking glass here, people.

I can't seem to find a way to look it up, though. Have you ever heard of a problem like this, though? Imagine the j600, more or less, with the silver button and some directions on the big circle not working. It is quit annoying and I don't know how it's happened.

That would be an instant break though, surely? It happened a few days ago, and got worse every day. I could get it to work a few hours ago if I shifted the slide about enough. It's not been anywhere lately that it hasn't been for the last two years.

Y'see, this is the difference between us, Gilly. You'd let that stop you.

Thank you for your help, but I think that finding the model number is kind of moot, I can't imagine there's anything a cackhands like me can do without simply jumping up and down on it, and that didn't work.

There's a mildly suspicious mobile phone repair vaguely near town; I may as well ask if they can sort out the buttons. Or at least tell me how to get the millions of texts and notes I've got on there off it.

In other news, I have several large blisters on my back from sleeping on the radiator the other day. I think maybe my weird sleeping habits might actually be some sort of disorder. Surely searing pain would wake you up long before you burned yourself? The radiator's nowhere near hot enough to burn that fast.

My town graced the front page of the Scottish Herald today because of the crazy winds causing crazy high waves crashing over the sea wall. Apparently it was 60mph winds in Glasgow. The drive home was really bad visibility with the rain coupled with wrestling with the steering wheel to stay in your lane.

Fans of late 80's music sensation Whistlin' Rick Wilson will be pleased to learn that his only hit has suddenly turned up on Youtube. Blim!

This has pleased me enormously.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
This was of course a song included on a Your Sinclair covertape that Phillip Scofield ended up playing on his Radio 1 show
