 Post subject: amusing technical error

My cat jumped on my wireles keyboard whilst i was using my other computer.
now my keyboard makes a nice every time i pres a key and i canot type the same leter twice in a row, even delete, or hold down a key to repeat!
i am runing vista - any ideas please - i have tried control panel > keyboard and canot se anything amis, which is about the limit of my technical knowledge.

If it won't let you type twice in a row, that's probably sticky keys, isn't it?

and if it is that (my first thought too) press shift 5 times in a row to activate/deactivate it.

Hm, found the sticky keys option and that was not ticked - any other ideas welcome!
EDIT - just turned the sound on it is now talking al the time about magnifier etc.!
