// welcome to MegaByte

A new concept and monthly party for Manchester - showcasing the best, strangest and funnest music from the worlds of video games, anime, j-pop, chiptune, OST's and more.

Proudly presenting our opening night - what promises to be the start of an excellent and unpredictable adventure. We hope you can join us.

// specs

- Wednesday 23rd March 2011 (and every 4th Wednesday after)
- Retro Bar, Sackville Street, Manchester
- 9pm to 2am
- £3 on the door
It's been set up by a friend of a friend who I met in the Salisbury at friend-the-former's birthday party. Nice guy, and it sounds like an interesting thing. Shame it's mid-week (this means I'm not sure I'm going) but any local (or travelable) BEEXers are welcome.

Anyone interested?

Sounds interesting but I'm married and have given up on life.

Go on then.

Edit: Bare in mind I have a low tolerance for animé bollocks and j-pop pish :/

Methinks I will demand the Deus Ex club mix.

Like I said in the post - I'm not sure I'm going yet, and won't be out late if I do. We're both working the next day too, and I've got a booking earlier in the evening that I can't do anything about. That and I've posted it on Way of the Rodent and shared it on Facebook too. All of that means I pretty much have to be a big meanie from the start and not offer any crash space or I'll feel crap for turning people down later. I'm just doing the guy a favour by spreading the word, partly because I'm a nice guy and partly because if it takes off it'll keep running and might be able to move to a better night and that'd be ace for me.

Lewie: I think he was talking more about 8- and 16-bit music. But request away, for sure.

Assuming you mean "...to DJ", I suppose he might be putting an MP3 player on shuffle, with requests considered. I don't really know. I was pissed when he was telling me about it.

Oh, I don't mind if it gets played or not, I just want to demand it.

To DJ and to listen to it. It's a lot of songs.

It's a party in a bar rather than a club night. I dunno. I think it's an experiment for him; there's a bit of a dearth of unusual nights in Manchester apparently. Even rock nights are pretty rare since Rockworld went under.

It was me that posted about it on here!

Looking at the Facebook event RSVPs, there are more blokes than women certainly, but it's not totally one-sided.

Remembered about this the other day.

Not had any luck convincing any of my mates to go.

Not actually sure if I want to go any more. The potential for awful is quite high.
