So on Rllmuk they have a thread where a bunch of people keep a track of everything they spent in 2010. It all added up to some scary numbers.

So I thought I might attempt to do the same this year (till I get board at least) - anyone fancy trying it?
No need to detail every expenditure in the thread (unless you want to) - but you could tot up how much you spent every month or so on.

This is partly because I want to spend less on these silly games and in particular I want to stick to iTunes/M$ vouchers now to stop nickel and dime'ing myself to death and get a better idea of what I'm spending.

For extra fun I'm adding a poll so you can predict how much you will spend.

(My own prediction is £300 - but that assumes I'm not getting a 3DS... and I suspect I spent a bit more than that this year...)

I imagine 200-300. A couple of full priced games (TDU2 on release day for definite) plus plenty of stuff via Microsoft Space Pounds.

I went for £600-£800, although I fear the actual number may be higher. Incredibly coincidentally I found out today on the phone to Microsoft that I've spent £680 on the XBLA alone since I got my 360 in October 2007. Yikes. (If you're interested, I was trying to demonstrate my loyalty when they refused to refund my MS points for Quake Live Arcade which won't fucking work online due to some bug that id are "working on". As we know, it's MS policy not to refund MS point spendage, but I moaned for a good hour and they've "escalated" my claim - should hear back sometime next year.)

edit: I wonder how much I've spunked on PSN/iTunes. I started working out the iTunes number around six months ago by adding up all of my email receipts, but it quickly passed £100 with a fuck load of receipts still to count and I got too scared to continue.

I used to spend far more than I do, but recently I tend to stick to a couple of games a year, and maybe buy another if demand calls for it. I even forestalled purchasing Fallout NV as I am waiting for the GOTY edition. Most purchase I get at full price are a let-down*, so I am trying not to buy them anymore when it is so easy to get games cheap.

I reckon less than £200. Obviously, if my console dies I will buy a new 360, and this does not include live subscription.

*last 2 full price I bought were B:BC2 and Halo Reach, neither worth full price.

I've gone for £400-£600. I rarely buy games full price, but I am planning on buying a 3DS when they're out.

M$ and iTunes will account for a good 80% of my expenditure. The last 20% will go on a few disk based games. No doubt once heavily discounted. The only full price games I've bought in recent memory were:

Mario Galaxy 2: £35
NSMB Wii £35
and
Mirror's Edge £40

Where as due to iOS I've probably spent more (and given more to developers) this year than ever before.

£300-400, I reckon. I don't buy many new games, preferring sales/cheap/preowned stuff.

EDIT: Ooh, hang on. MMO subscriptions too, and Live. Damn. I'd best not hurl any more 360 controllers either.

I have voted £50-£100 but this may go up.

I got a lot of iTunes vouchers for Christmas so around £50 will go there over the year. Then I also want Dead Rising 2 and Rock Band 3 when they're cheap, and a Live sub again.

Apart from that I'll be waiting for the next game people impress me with on here, so it'll be a fairly cheap year I hope.

On UGVM the weekly Play, Want & Bin thread expanded this year to include Expenditure. There are some scary figures into the high hundreds and above. I however have not kept track a guestimate would be £400 to £500

After some head-scratching and currency conversions I went for 300-400 (I don't have the luxury of a pound symbol unfortunately). I sense it may be worse than that though, as I've already got my sights set on Two Worlds II (waits for Dimrill to return), Bulletstorm, Pink Sweets/Muchi Muchi Pork and hopefully Otomedius Excellent, and that's just the first few months of the year. And if I spend as much next year on Xblah as I did this year... um, oh dear.
And then there's the 3DS of course, which I'm certainly pretty interested in, but maybe not quite "launch buy" interested.
Hmm, I think I may have underestimated.

Yeah, I suspect I have. I spend an awful lot on iTunes.

I suspect I might not get the 3DS, despite my love of Nintendo portables, purely because I suspect the 3D will play havoc with my shit eyes. (pleasedon'tpleasedon'tpleasedon't.....)

I chose a low figure, as really in terms of full priced games I only get a couple each year (it helps mostly only liking football & puzzle games). Still I get through a fair few pound notes on the 360 points, but I'm certain I don't go much over £100 or so for a typical year.

I haven't made an estimation yet, but my weak self-control with regards to Xbox games at launch must add to a fair bit each year, and that's before I even consider the never-ending 59p punt-fest that is my iPhone.

I chose a low number due to:

1) There being no games on the horizon I seem to care about, and
2) I never really spend any money on XBLA, and perhaps most importantly,
3) Having a baby in April

Yeah, I would find it very hard to go back to the DS way of doing things after the app store.

I've gone for £100-200 as that's what I'd like to spend this year. I want to play less in general but I when I do I want quality. Only instapurchase on the horizon is Gears 3 :metul:

Pinball fx2 has proved you don't need to spend loads to get hours worth of joy.

This plan may explode in my face when The Last Guardian is released and I have to buy a PS3.

Well I've just spent £100 on copies of Just Cause 2 from Play.com. But I don't suppose I should include things bought for my stall.

Actually that applies to me too in a way. I don't care for collecting games at all so a lot of what I spend I get back by trading it in again.

I think most people will underestimate how much they think they spend. Having been self employed forever, I have to keep a track of what I spend every year so I tend to clip things when they enter silly territory. I spend a fraction of what I used to on films and games nowadays.

As a thread I'd suggest it'd be better to keep a running total so every time someone buys a game they add to their total. They can compare that to the silly guesstimates at the end of the year then.

I've gone for £200-£300 but I'm hoping that I can cut that back a bit due to the amount of unplayed games I've got. A quick nose over my shelves and I reckon I've got 20 360 games and 15 Wii games that I've not started yet. And then there's all the stuff I've been buying on GOG and Steam. There's hours of stuff there so I need to go and get my money's worth from it.

Saying that, I do want a 3DS.

I've pre-ordered TDU2, but paid upfront for it so at least it counts as this year. ;) I'll probably get more XBLA stuff, depending on what comes out - I want a new puzzler or I'll end up going back on my Bejeweled 2 mission.

£5 per copy.

I ordered one of those, but shitty Barclaycard have put a security stop on my card (AGAIN) so Play cancelled it, and then the price went back up :(

I'd say about £100 - 200, but that probably translates to £200 - 300 in reality, as buying lots of cheap games tends to add up.

I am getting better at digging up a neglected game instead of spending another £3 - 10 on a new one, though. Maybe this year will be cheaper.

Strange one this as I have a log of about 80% of my games "expenditure" last year from March onwards but that didn't actually cost me any money as it was through :attitude: 's £2 a month drug mule scheme which I have now pretty much maximised.

From my spreadsheet it says I got £437.24 worth of stuff although I also got Amazon vouchers with which I bought some games so including that and pre-March expenditure I reckon I had in excess of £500 of gaming stuff last year. If it had cost me real English pounds then it would have been a fraction of that.

This year there's every chance of me sinking financially without a trace unless I get a proper job so I reckon anywhere between £0 and £150 depending on when/if I get a job.

£100-£200 for me. I don't even know if it would be that much as that would be ten full priced games.

Last year I probably spent the £200 given that NV was £50. Or was it £40? Hmm, yeah it was £40 I think..

I seem to buy one full priced game, one medium priced game and a load of Steam budget titles each year, so I'm going for £50-£100 with the figure being bobbing just underneath the £100 mark.

I've said £200-£300 as a total guess. I currently have New assassins creed, Fallout and Fable to be playing plus 3 Kinect games so I can hopefully hold up spending for a while. I still fancy Tropico and Saboutour(?) though and will find it incredibly hard not to buy Sims 3 for 360. Has anyone got that by the way? Then we have the usual Christmas rush of Call of Duty, we're getting new Gears, I'm sure there will be more. When is new Mass Effect, are they going to get it all out this gen?

I'm doing better! Still owed £12.

The money you get for dishing out BJs has nothing at all to do with the game expenditure thread.

You can only include it in the figures if you have a reasonable expectation of actually receiving it in 2011.

I am still at £0, though having just sold half of my game collection, I think I should consider myself in credit.

Also, I have no plans to buy any games this year, other than GoW 3, and whatever tat I find myself drawn to on the iPhone. However, the best laid plans, etc.

If you're getting GoW 3, Shirley you'll be interested in the excellent looking Bulletstorm?

I haven't spent any money on games so far in 2011!
