There was a lot of noise about Sarah Palin too, but to be honest I don't really pay attention to him (or twitter on a regular basis) so it could be a running joke.

Thanks for the advice Decca but there's no one in next door... well, apart from the dog.

I guess I'll go round tomorrow and tell them how annoying their dog is and if it persists, I'll complain to the council but in the mean time.. me and the wife have got to try to get to sleep!

Went to bed early last night, dreamt I was in a police station and all the cops and detectives were standing around spitting on the floor. Disgusted, I walked out the front door and fell down the front step.

This caused me to jolt awake and go "Nnnnnrrrgh!". I then didn't really get back to sleep until 3am. FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU

Got in car, droplets on inside from condensation. Go back into the house, dig crappy local paper out of recycle bin, dry window. Now spend five minutes trying to encourage car out of nest of snow and ice. Guy down road emerges from his drive, forced to reverse back out onto main road.

Get to work. It's only me today. Fuck this.

Note to self: when playing board games ('Ticket to Ride' in this case), only let out a sigh of relief that another player hasn't blocked you after he has made his move, not before, in case he notices your vulnerability and changes his plans.

I wasn't very good at chess last night, either.

People in full Carter and Jun armour from Halo: Reach on BBC News 24 now, washing windows and trying to type on a computer. More amazing was the in-game footage showed someone who was actually good at the game playing it!

Quite enjoyed Top Gear.

Going to the (56% efficient as of Sept 2010) tip in a bit with all the wrapping and shizzle. Friend coming over to stay this evening so I guess I'll have to make a bed for her.

Played two games against my dad of Chess, one I lost, one I won. He's far and away the better player though - as the 5-11 score to him on the record we keep evidences.

Ticket to Ride, what edition? I've played the Nordic one at a friend's. It's fun!

I hadn't played in years. Took me a few seconds to remember how the horsies move :(

We were playing the US map. My parents have the European board but they don't like the rules about tunnels and ferries, even though you can always not play with those. It's probably my favourite board game.

I have been smashing up a concrete floor with a sledge hammer and Large Drill all day. Been in for an hour watching telly and thought it warm enough in the living room not to bother lighting the fire. Turns out it's 11 deg C in here and I just hadn't noticed :S

I've been stripping wall paper today and its coincided with the first day in ages that I haven't had the heating on all day.

Strange that.

You poor man. What a horrible task that is. Especially when your ladder is perched over a stairwell and there's about 12 feet below you.

I have spent a colossal portion of the day asleep and the rest of it watching the Doctor Who Christmas Special whilst spectacularly man-flued up and monging on the sofa. It's like my immune system has decided to take a rest after a weekend of chasing an 18-month old around and just let me catch whatever.

I have just had a very relaxing bath though and am seriously considering going out somewhere, anywhere, as the confines of the flat are starting to do me in, as it were. I do need to grab one of my spare HDMI cables from my parents, so I might go there. Woo! Excitement!

Yes, wallpaper stripping is a horrible, horrible task. Every room in our house needed stripping. And then repapering! Well, I wouldn't want to deprive the next people to move in from that joy.

M&S Christmas dinner was the best Christmas dinner I've had. It was so easy and so tasty, I spent probably 30mins in the kitchen and it took just over 2hrs. Ace. Will definitely be doing it next year, although Ramsea was not convinced it was worth the money but he'd eat chilli out of a can and think that was an acceptable meal....

I've eaten so little since last Tuesday, when the influenza effect started, that today I noticed my jeans barely hold up on my waist. Resulting in said jeans needing to be pulled up constantly. :( I'm using my jeans belt's tightest notch, too. Oh well.

Wallpapering is such a horrid task that there's no chance I'll ever have any if I ever buy my own place. I'd much rather just have painted walls.

See, that's what we thought, so we stripped all the wallpaper, saw the state of the walls underneath, and hired a professional to come and repair the plaster and then paint it all.

Except, our house is 100 years old, so it likes to adjust itself sometimes to ensure it's resting comfortably on its foundations of dead coal miners and knights who tangled with dragons and lost. Cracks appeared in our lovely, freshly painted-n-plastered walls, which wallpaper would have covered. Fuck.

We went for lining paper. It was a good choice, except for the spot where we removed a thermostat from the wall.

I shall be using lining paper and the obligatory feature wall boringly enough.

We had our living room plastered and painted and yes, cracks have started to appear so that's put us off doing the rest of the house.

As for plasterboarding.... our kitchen and dining room is done like that by the previous owners and I hate it. It's always hit and miss when hanging a picture or something and I don't like the fact that the room is about a quarter of an inch smaller than it should be. oh, and the door frame looks shit.

Bought NBA Jam today for £25... Feeling mightily ripped off. It's great, but they've barely attempted to disguise its XBLA heritage. Also, I can't get a game online because it seems nobody in the world is playing it. Gonna have to teach the girlfriend to play it or get some chums round if I'm to extract any fun from it. The campaign is alright, but playing against the AI isn't really the point - especially when the game mechanics are so utterly simple. So yeah, don't buy it, unless you find it for less than a tenner - preferably second hand.

Half the walls were boarded halfway up anyway (the previous decorators did very strange things) so our guy just added another board on top. These are all fine, no cracks.

My mother has just told me that her "wireless is out" but it's ok because "we are in a wireless hot spot" "no your not mother" "ok, fine it connects to the [neighbours name] network and the password is their old cat's name" 8) I'm staggered, these are the people who once actually melted a pc into their desk, and not 6 months ago I had a excruciating conversation with my dad over why his new router wouldn't be the same as the government's computer network, including at one point, convincing him that he didn't need to buy a server to get Internet bookmarks from the PC to the laptop.

Computer upgrade project going well. Update soon. Most pleased with work so far. Have had to wire two PSU's together to get needed power, and GPU output a bit low, so i'm going to have to up that a bit. CPU seems to be running slow, though, might be heat problems.

You know the cameras that recognise where people's faces are in pictures/ Where does the software exist in the camera, and where does it output to? I need to do something with a webcam to recognise a face upon login.

EDIT: Thinking about it a bit more, I can just use the camera itself and that "How attractive are you?" software as the facial points should be similar.

Better idea!

Use iPhone 4 camera and software to recognise faces AND utilise the accelerometers feeding back to mechanical actuators to keep camera level via micro adjustment.

Will need MOAR POWAH!

I've made her a Cyborg Georgian Lady of Leisure dress.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
I've upgraded one of her dresses I found in her wardrobe by adding more RAM, a new CPU and GPU, IDE cables; PCI USB 2.0 Card; and some heatsinks and fans. It's well pro. The velvet; silk and satin set the technology off well.

Oh well, it's less weight being carried round, which can't be too bad (not that I'm overweight, but at least I'm now further from potential overweightedness). Just have to keep myself hydrated properly just in case it was mostly water loss.

Melted... a PC baseunit to a desk? 8)

Was the desk metal? And how did the computer melt?

Is this really a photo taken in the last few days? It's ridiculous.

It will have been, any catastrophic weight loss like that is always mostly water weight. One pound of fat is approximately 3500 kcal, and most people with sedentary jobs and typical exercise patterns are burning 1500-2500 kcal per day. Even if you completely fasted, nil-by-mouth, and still find the energy to live a normal live, you would only expect to burn off between three and five pounds of fat per week.

Ulp. Thought as much. About the water lost.

(I wish A-level Biology taught important information like that, incidentally. Somewhere in the syllabus. I'd then be more likely to remember what I had learnt years ago. And I'm someone who wanted to do a degree in Biology, only prevented due to my lack of GCSE Maths.)

Taken this evening in our local Tesco - it 'was' the Christmas aisle , now one little section is all the wrapping paper and stuff for 1/2 price and the rest is all Easter eggs
