Oh impressive, Gaz pops back in to say something largely ignoreable, then people say to him they're voting for GJ because she's been a bit anonymous, somehow missing one of the most prolific posters is the person they're addressing, who's said nothing.

Thing is that the fence-sitter turning mafia gives the mafia a 6-person team, which is completely massive for a mafia, and makes the cult that bit weaker by increasing the number they can't recruit. By turning mafia, you manage to make another group (cult) a fair bit weaker while your own (mafia) becomes really pretty strong. I'd go mafia without hesitation; A 6-person mafia in a 20 person game can't really not win. Especially considering they have a roleblocker and a doctor, that's amazingly strong.

Winning a game of MafiaScum is.... very much like making love to a beautiful woman. First you get your rope and... erect your gallows, then you flail around for while accusing each other of sinister acts. Then night comes and someone ends up dead with their teddy bears covered in semen.

I think MaliA is trying to allude to something, people. But whether he's bullshitting is not for me to say, but I am amazed nobody as picked up on his use of the word MIMIC and the allusion to HIMSELF.

If I find out that players have been cheating, reading this forum while logged out I will personally find out where they live and kick the living shit out of them.

I've mentioned it to myoptika, it should be possible to block 'guests' from this forum. There's no reason not to.

There's nothing to stop people from cheating anyway, so it doesn't matter. People won't cheat.

I agree with that bit Kalmar said - that's part of why I suspected Craster. Also, if Craster were Mafia I'd fully expect him to bump me off early on.

Next game, can I have a personal doctor, please?

With the new rule update, there are 9/19 roles that can't be culted by the leader, which is almost half. That makes it very hard for them to win.

Malc has an ... interesting plan, it seems.

I don't know if I like this rule change. It makes life harder for the already hard-pressed SK. Their only chance is to move slowly and investigate, but if they do that, they'll be outed by the cult before they get anywhere.

If Malc isn't the Bomber, he'll be dead in a day or two. Unless he's mafia and their doctor protects him.

If he is, someone will probably know about it tomorrow. Pay attention to who supports Malc tomorrow, if not with their words but with their voting.

The SK has always had a hard time of it, but at least s/he has the investigative ability to compensate.

I don't want to fiddle with the rules too much but I think the SB issue was worth the clarification. They were intended to be a role that would explode during the day, and reveal two roles during a daytime cycle to make for more interesting discussion. With that being my intent, it doesn't help keep the game interesting if s/he can be silently killed at night or recruited by the cult.

Any ruleset is open to flaws and we're all still a bunch of noobs at this, me included. It'll be a long time before I run a game again so if I feel the weighting needs adjusting I'll do it. If nothing else it'll help future game-runners by demonstrating a pitfall or two.

I always thought that was a bad thing about mafia, not something to encourage. But in any case the cult is different from the SK in that it's a group you almost always have to join; if joining it means you almost certainly won't win the game then it becomes the best play for recruitable townies to try and kill themselves. That's kind of game-wrecking if any of them realise.

They don't need 10 to win though, just a majority of whomever's left. We won last game with 5 and had a very good chance of winning with 4 if that night's recruitment had failed.

Will he though? Who's going to risk targeting him unless someone else calls him out on it. I think it's genius regardless of whether he is.

I think if I were cult, I'd be recruiting him tonight, worst case I fail and will have some useful info, or I get myself a near untouchable townie.

The SK and Vigilante, as well as possibly the mimic, can and probably will investigate him. They'll know if he's lying. If he's not the SB he'll probably cark it.

Malc's claimed to be the bomber.

So he's untouchable.

Why wouldn't the real SB just counterclaim him?

The issue with the unrecruitable numbers is in the ratios- the more unrecruitable people there are, the less likely the cult is to recruit sucessfully on any given night and the less likely they are to win the game. It's not that they can't get enough people to win, but that they'll have a really hard time doing so unless they get the vig and manage to keep him and the leader alive while getting everyone else in the game to hit non-recruitables as much as possible. That's really difficult.

Only if they try to kill him, surely?

If even investigating him means he goes off, the town should lynch him. In fact, they should anyway. That way he has to prove he's the SB or be lynched - the town can't afford to have an unkillable player who could be the cult leader, and the small chance of the SB taking out the right person with them isn't worth it.

Can't deny it's certainly made things interesting. The SB is supposed to explode though, and I suspect they will before the game goes on for too much longer.

Actually that would be quite a good move, if he's not the SB he's almost certainly someone the SB wants dead.

And if no, then someone being daft! Assuming malc isn't the SB, if I were the SB, I would wait until tomorrow, though. Might as well not take the chance of redundantly killing a mafia target.

Yes, ComicalAboutToLostALotOfWeight confirmed earlier the governor is essentially unlynchable.

Which means if he's not mafia, I suspect the mafia will hit him tonight. If they don't, I'll be even more suspish of him.

Not necessarily. For a start, we can't be sure MaliA is the governer. Secondly, the Governator can only use his power once, so he's a vanilla townie now. If MaliA is the Governator he's just a mundane target now.

You love it.

Incidentally the Governor's power isn't a one-time deal. It works every day.

Oh! That changes everything. Hmmm. So, if MaliA isn't Mafia, they are very likely to whack him now as a suspected Governator. If he isn't whacked, he's very likely Mafia. Either way he's screwed!
