Hi chucks,

I've noticed that whatever site I visit, I keep on being shown this same advert:

Picture 2.jpg

I see it about 10 times a day, on sites I have never visited before. I can't believe that the Spurs kit advertisers could really be so prolific that they are on every website, so I assume they are targeted at me because I am a spurs fan.

But... how would 'they' know that and how does it works? Or does everyone on here see that advert all the time, every day, on every site?

Most popular ad on the Internet, tbf.

(They are watching you, I can't explain now, they'll hear)

When you go to the spurs website, the ad provider puts a cookie on your PC. When you go to another website with ads from that same provider, they see that cookie, and go "This person goes to the Spurs website! I shall show them Spurs ads!"

What Craster said. It's called retargeting or summat. My boss bangs on about it a lot. My eyes glaze over a lot.

Ooohkayy! That makes far more sense than the notion that I am being haunted by Peter Crouch.

Mimi, you had a nice hat last year. There's no way we're buying you a Spurs shirt this year no matter how many hints you drop.

Oh, I have one. Mind you, it is about 14 years old and is the away goalie's shirt as per Ian Walker. it is navy blue with orange and purple triangles and looks like an arcade carpet.

I am only allowed to wear hat during December, (Craig's rules, i wanted to wear it around November 28th), so I am now wearing it every day (plus, it is genuinely my warmest hat as it is densely made and lined, so it is best. In fact, I must g get clothes/hat/wellies coat on now to go to Post office. :(

This picture is old, from christmas Day last year:

Can't find a picture of my pudding hat on my laptop, but I rarely name pictures. I shall take one tomorrow when I take my new pattern ics. It's really very good. The man in the Grocers called all his friends over to have a look as it was the best Christmas hat he'd seen, he said.

I have woolly hat and earmuffs on now, Blinkin' cold :(

Glad you like it Meems. I was worried buying you a knitted hat would be like taking coals to Newcastle.

That's quite a collection. Ali just has the one and keeps in a drawer.

haha, goodness, no. I have always bought hats. You know how some folks buy loads of shoes, ties or handbags? Well, that's me with hats. I think I have 40+. Many are animal shaped, but I haven't worn those ones so much recently as the country appears to be going through some animal hat mania.

Not that I would ever accuse you of being deliberately obtuse, but he's talking about vibrators, or the rabbit in particular which is apparently the most popular model.

I think we had about ten various vibrators about a decade ago when HC was working on a woman's mag (New Woman, to be precise) and they did a sex toy supplement so she got sent loads of "toys".

It made for a memorable Christmas as I gave the ridiculously large flexible silicon and glittery one as a present to my sister and made her open it at the dinner table at Christmas lunch. As you can imagine she was very embarrassed but saw the funny side and most us just wet ourselves laughing. With the possible exception of the local priest and friend of the family who was mortified.

Oh, OK. No, I thought Apple Pie was making a joke that my hats were pets, and that he only had one pet rabbit. I've not heard of a rabbit sex toy

That, and if a vibrator ever had an apt name, it would be 'Complicator'.
