Bring it on! Shipping Nov 4th on PC/360. If they get this right it could be freaking excellent. Not a pre-order game, as it could go badly wrong, but the prospect of four player bezzie anti-zombie co-op is dizzying.

yeah looks quite fun, I loved TF2 so Ill probably love however valve have got this playing online. The only worry is the players controlling the special zombies and how easy there abilities are to use and also if they are evenly blanaced.

No, I don't think so. Turns out PC gamers don't want to pay an annual subscription to play games; shocker, eh? I also think for shooters it's hard to balance keyboard&mouse players against pad players.

It wouldn't be fair, as they're played in a completely different way.

I don't hold out much hope for this, to be honest.

Co-op Halo 3 and GTA IV work well on playing the same missions over and over again w/ gr8 m8s because they're so open and have vehicles (which instantly quadruple the lol-age factor). Left 4 Dead (what a stupid spelling, gripes the man who just said gr8 m8s) seems to be a somewhat linear corridor shooter, as the preview screenies make it impossible to tell otherwise*

PC Gamer say that the game will hinge on the AI director which controls the zombie hordes. Can it still come up with original scares and such after lots of play, they ask. I reckon: no. I reckon they will program this thing with dozens of little scripty setpieces and the director will randomly activate them. They'll 'work' the first few times, but then you'll start spotting them. Then you'll start spotting the warning signs that they're about to occur, and what should be a terrifying moment when a zombie breaks through a door behind you turns into you waiting with your shotgun ready to blast the zombie's head off before the splinters of wood have even hit the floor.

I could be completely wrong and it'll be excellent, natch, but we'll have to see.

*and so does Prototype. PC Gamer are fiddling this one's bottom every month, raving about how it has all of New York City and you're a mutant hoodie fighting the army. But I still have no idea how the game actually works, or how open it is, or anything, so I'm not interested by it either.

As far as I've read in previews, it won't be a corridor shooter. I can't go into much more detail than that as my brain isn't working at the moment.

oh also a mode with no time limits and you can kill off every zombie in your own time. I read an article the other day that capcoms E3 list of games has two unnamed projects so possibly a sequel to dead rising.

Yes, I agree with this. It hinges on how well it works. As I said, it's not a preorder game because it could all go very wrong. But I think this AI director malarky is a good idea, and a fairly novel one too, so I'm hopeful that even if this doesn't work out we may see something in the future that does.

I'm really interested in this, but as I don't buy games till they are ~£25 means that by the time I get it everyone will have finished it and so it will be rubbish.

But if I buy it for £40 I'll feel I've wasted my money.

Gah!

These days I'm finding the extra £10-15 on average I'm spending on games is worth it just for playing with Bezzies.

Yeah except I normally only pay £15 so I've already gone up a tenner to be closer to peeps. I'm too poor for that.

I lucked out and got CoD4 for £25 a month after launch, maybe I can do that...

I still need Orange Box and GTA IV as well though...

Will there be split screen? If not, major opportunity wasted.

It's about time a developer realised that co-op is the best.

Shuddup, fool. One day I will have a living room big enough for four TVs and four consoles. Until then, split screen is correct.

Until then, split screen is a solution, but it's a crap one.
What's wrong with LIVE?

If my friends aren't a long way away, I'd prefer to be in the same room with them.

Anyone know if the ALiens: Colonial Marines is split screen or full screen over LIVE?

To me that looks like the coop game to beat, as the atmosphere will no doubt be pant wetting if online AvP was anything to go by.

I will still buy Left Four Dead though if it turns out to be aceface.
360 bez version ofc.

Co-op can make even the shittest of games decent. This looks like a good game anyway. I'm excited.

Zigackly. Even something as bleh as Kane and Lynch or Resistance becomes loasd more fun in co-op. I'd never even bother playing K&L single player.
