Just played the demo. Bum explodingly awesome. Where's it cheapest? I want to buy it on pay day.

~£27 at Zavvi/The Hut using one of these coupons is the best price.

Shopto have it for the same price and since I ordered it in September from Zavvi, and it STILL isn't here... I'd order it from them.

That's a good point actually. It's like 70p, but they are vaguely competent.

Yeah, in a fit of rage I ordered it from Shopto on Thursday night around 10:30 and the game was here Saturday.

I canceled my order with Zavvi but they reckon they've sent it already. Lord knows which carrier pigeon it is that's bringing it though as it still hasn't turned up.

Cheers. I think Shopto have given me 2 quid of credit too. Lovely.

Zavvi have frozen my account and their Fraud Administrator threw a hissy fit at me.

They have also cancelled some of my orders, but I don't know which ones because I can't log in, but I don't think they cancelled my Vanquish one. Not got it yet though.

They did cancel my cheap Team ICO collection and New Vegas.

What now? More details please (is this the ICO and SOTC PS3 HD release) and a link including a release date SVP.

Also, the hologram Vanquish box is lovely but made my eyes water staring at it. Either that, or some kind of emotion caused by the looking in my empty wallet and deciding I couldn't get it this month.

This will have to wait until it's £15. Which judging by how Bayonetta did, won't be too long after release.

I bought* it at full retail release price even though I won't be playing it for ages as I got Bayonetta on the cheap so I reckon Platinum deserve my cahs monies for being so ace.

I've played the first couple of levels (one of which is the demo level) and it seems brilliant. Must finish Dead Rising 2 and play Fallout Vegas 1st though like.

* used the last of my trade-in credit and have no more super secret :attitude: free money-o-tron to spend so that's my game 'purchasing' done for a while although I do have White Elephant for 360 on pre-order which I wouldn't have bought had it cost me actual money and may yet have to ebay depending on the job situation.

Yep. Both ICO and SOTC, enhanced and on one disc.

Out early next year for ~£25-30. Supporting 3D, have trophies, 720p, improved framerate and certain assets redone/touched up. Possible move support (who gives a fuck about that though).

Well, after deleting my account and telling me all my orders were cancelled, because I run SavyGamer, zavvi have now "shipped" me a copy of vanquish.

Lets see if it actually turns up.

Just like Bayonetta.

But in the end it didn't get the love it deserved... :'(

I might have to add this to my Want list. I liked the demo even if I found it a bit difficult — by difficult I mean I couldn't kill that enormoboss in one go.

Took me about 5 attempts to down the boss in the demo on normal. And that was with a friend 'spotting' (which helped a lot). But it was awesome difficulty rather than shitty difficulty and seemed to be always my fault.

So it seems I suck at it. But yet want the game hard.

Emperor's New Shooter.

Or maybe I'm just being cynical. Demo was balls. (IMHO LOLFAG)

Also, for those who are interested, the new EDGE gave it an 8. Didn't they give Bayonetta a 10? Therefore, it's not as good as Bayonetta, as I noticed in the demo what I didn't like. I'm eagerly awaiting some Bezzie impressions. Does anyone have it yet?

I have it and its great. You basically shoot a load of robots, then watch a cut scene (where you're shooting robots) then you shoot some more robots.

It barely let's up for a second! I like it.

Well bought this. £25 from shopto with my discount.

Based on Bayonetta, platinum deserve their games to be bought new at launch by me rather than when they get discounted.

Bugged to fuck New Vegas can wait (if it even ever get it).

So the problem with Vanquish is that it's just a game about shooting robots?

Here's referencing this video about God Hand, which the developers of Vanquish made previously (when called Clover).

So I'm on mission 2 of this and loving it. It's wonderful.

I am also on mission two, and loving it.

Did you see that you can shoot out grenades? If you throw a grenade, then shoot it out of the air, the amount of damage/range of splash damage increases. You also feel like a badass.

Edit: It's a bit cutsceney for my liking, but I intend to finish it over next few days, trade it in at a profit and then probably pick it up again later down the line if I get an inkling to play it again.

The combat and game mechanics are so refined that I genuinely think it may become a score attack leaderboard game for me. Especially as they've angled it hard towards that. I also want to play the challenge mode, and play the harder difficulties.

This is unlike me.

But I'll hold my views on that till I get further through the game.

Didn't know about grenade thing. Awesome.

I ordered some trainers online for more than I wanted to pay, to get a particular colour. I had an email the next day cancelling my order due to no stock, so ordered a different colour from a different website for practically half the price.

I spent the difference on this game, and am installing it now. Weeee! Lunch break, I reckon.

Play are selling Vanquish (360) for £17.99 today.

Am very tempted to add it to my mountain of untouched games for that price.

I think I'll pick this up for £10 in Jan. Looks like it's headed that way price wise.

This game is all sorts of awesome ain't it.

Blasting a robot in the face over your shoulder without even looking back while rocketing away at 100mph with your kneecaps melting off while fire shoots out your arse? Yes please.

And the whole thing just oozes retina scorching beauty. Yeah, yeah, it's a bit samey and grey/white - But watch him change weapons! The animation is fan-tas-tic.

I'm 2 acts in, and loving every minute of it.

I'm enjoying the achievements too (for a change) since they add to the experience (with the exception of about 2 of em) rather than just asking you to mindlessly plough through endlessly repetative tasks (I'm looking at you Dead Rising 2). They remind me of Dead Space which tempted you to use different weapons for the achievements, and certainly stopped me using just the most reliable pew-pews for a short time.

BOOYA! *slides away on knees, before scuffing trousers on the carpet and cursing real life*

Completed this now.

It was brilliant from beginning to end which kinda went like this:

ZOOOOOOOM, pow, pow, jumpy, s-l-o-w-j-u-POW POW-m-p-y. Brzzzzzzzzztttt! ZOO-pow-pow-OOOO-pow-pow-OOOOOOM!

There were some great understated set-pieces in there too like, the buildings falling down and the laser cannon from the Keron mashing up the sidewalks, the battle across the falling bridge and all. The cut scenes never overstayed their welcome and the challenge levels have proven to be somewhat, um, challenging. The achievements are mini-challenges in their own right and worth having a crack at. Yeah, the story was silly and the ending was atrocious but no less so than, say, Gears of War. Yes, you can EMP twenty robots before demolishing them by shooting your own grenades out of the sky. Yes, you can zoom on your knees to a massive robot with two giant drills for hands and kick him in the face. And of course you can smoke a fag in the game when resting behind cover and use the smoking fag end to distract robots. Kudos for having chain smoking hero. Well, just because they can.

Not the best game of 2010 but I daresay it'd be in most peoples top ten. If they'd played it of course although strangely looking at my friends list it seems a fair few bezzies picked it up on release but then stopped playing it at around the third or forth act. Shame on you. SHAME. ON. YOU.

I finished this on Normal yesterday and it would be an S for me if it wasn't so fucking Japanese in its willingness to one shot insta-death you at times. With it penalising you in points every time you die it has caused much more swearing (or Melon Farmers swearing when little ears are in the house) than any other game has for quite some time.

And yet it's brilliant at the same time.

Can someone explain though why in the penultimate mission

Something to do with the Russians using him against Sam? To be honest.. I haven't a clue. This had me scratching my head too.

Have you done any of the challenge modes? They're really hard I think!

£18 seems to be my new rule of thumb. It's good as it means I won't add to the 15 or so unplayed games I still have on my shelf (unless it's something relatively new for sub-£10).

funny, the gaming backlog thread meant I was actually thinking about going back to this game today.

Found it very difficult at the time, but I think completing Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising since then might help me return to it more successfully.

And last night, a mere quarter year since thinking about it, I decided to dive back in on the 360.

It's bloody brilliant.

I realised you can't take everyone head-on, you need a bit of a Gears of War-approach to build your attacks on. You need to evade, find cover, flank enemies with your jet-arse and then slip into slow-mo to deal out some gloriously over-the-top destruction.

It still looks startlingly good today, and the pyrotechnics are relentless and delightful.

If you haven't played it, play it.

Unless you hate games like Metal Gear Rising and Gears of War. In which case don't.
