I'm currently rating my chances of getting a reply, via SMS or Email, from a 17 year old girl in a form of language that I can understand about arrangements for next weekend as "low".

Surprised at the lack of early Christmas decorations adopters around this year. I'm sure last year some folks were decking the halls at the end of October, I've only seen a handful so far.

Driving along the A34 this morning I passed a garden centre with an enormous inflatable santa outside - it looked so strange in the sun.

The house slightly further up the hill I live on always has the whole outside of his house covered in illuminated decorations however these have previously gone up the last weekend before december so i *hope* they will not be around tomorrow :-)

Too dark to see last night but in the daylight i can see all their decorations on their house are up - santas reindeer etc etc - I expect them to be fully lit tonight.

Things about htis week:

1) I think I work for Chinny. It isn't, but he looks, sounds and generally behaves in a similar manner. I haven't yet asked whether he fancies Alan Sugar though.

2) I also played probably the worst game ever. Yes, even poorer than Luxor 2. Unsurprisinngly, it was a piece of wii shovelware.

3) The satnav I'm currently borrowing is offensively rubbish. This, combined with a crash on the M25, and consequently spreading up the M23 meant it took two and a half hours to get home last night. It managed to send me up a dusty dirt path that was so very crap my car got stuck. If it hadn't had a minor fit everytime I tried to zoom out or look around, it'd have been easy. Indeed, if it had been able to stay zoomed out, rather than constantly zooming in so that the map it shows is only about 4 car lengths in front of you, I'd have been a bit less angry last night.

4) Never, under any circumstances, buy or use a Road Angel sat nav. They're shit.

Well, went to recover profile anyway, and it can't save it. HDD works fine, no obvious issues. :S

Try deleting the profile, clearing the cache & recovering it then.

I have a red 'U' shape across the back of my thighs though and some of the skin peeled off, like mild sun burn. Turns out we use pretty caustic bleach....it was diluted, apparently so it could've been worse....The cleaner has been told not to wipe the toilet seats with bleach now though!

Couple of things here.
1. Did you write it up in the accident 'book?' - It should be, in case there are repercussions of any description later.
2. Have you considered a claim for compensation? I know it's a bit embarrassing claiming compo for burning yer arse on the bog, but you did in fact sustain an injury. If you're interested I can put you in touch with a very good personal injury specialist.

Just listed a load of stuff on ebay to finish next weekend.
Now my OCD kicks in and I get to refresh my ebay page every 2 minutes for the next week!

Also, made an awesome advent calendar for my other half, it's lottery scratchcard based :D

Took me about 4 bloody hours to do though, who ever thought cutting out letters could be so fiddly, and I didn't quite expect it to turn out 5ft tall at the end either!

I'm after a game recommendation if anyone can think of something suitable. I've got the urge to play something with an emphasis on exploring. Something with a world like Just Cause maybe, but ideally something without the heavy emphasis on combat. Something along the lines of Explorer on the spectrum (an old YS covertape game where you'd basically get lost in the jungle - nice idea, but a bit of a dull game) or maybe the Midwinter games (large areas to explore, multiple methods of transport), but a bit more up-to-date and maybe with an RPG feel. I've had a nose on Steam/GOG but nothing really jumps out and I can't think of anything on the 360.

Failing that, I'll just play Pinball FX 2 again...

Fallout: NV is a grand game for exploring, but possibly a bit combat-heavy for what you're after. Still, whack it on easy and hook up with companions and it shouldn't be much of a bother.

I bought this reduced. Probably only played it once or twice, it was utterly shite.

Thankful it's denied distribution so you can't play it via WoS.

Hmm.. could have sworn I replied to this earlier. Anyway, just to say that I've got Oblivion lying around so I'm just installing that (the disc access at the start was enough to convince me to quit out and install). I will get Fallout:New Vegas at some point though.

Cheers :)

Nobody that I need to speak to is online at the moment, so I think I'll go and have a beer instead. My friends have quite a pleasant little child and all concerned didn't seem to mind my holding it for quite a while this morning and playing 'bounce up and down'. It didn't vom or shit on me but stamped on my nads a few times. She was rubbish in Co-op House of the Dead, though.

My little girl has chickenpox, although aside from the spots you wouldn't think anything was wrong with her, as she was as lovely and playful as ever yesterday when I had her over for the day. We had a lovely time. I've already had chickenpox myself when I was about 6 years old, so I wasn't worried about getting it myself and I'm actually taking next Thursday off work to look after her as she obviously can't go to nursery at the moment.

Today, I appear to have developed multiple mouth ulcers and have painful spots on my back and left arm. Is this the start of zombification? How long do I have left?

I had chicken pox when I was 18. Horrific, possibly the longest two weeks of my life.

I suffer with mouth ulcers. Really suffer. I had one in each corner of mouth on the inside of my lower lip while working at the airport. Naturally. Just what I need when I talk to thousands of people a day.

I also get them (huge, 50p sized) at the back of my mouth where my throat begins. It's like having tonsillitis, except they're caused by stress. Now that I don't work such shit jobs, I never get them.

There was a fantastic medicine for them called "Frador" that got rid of all the pain. I think it's been discontinued. Orabase paste is the next best thing, once it manages to form a good cover on the ulcer it does a good job stopping it hurting.

Shingles? Nasty adult variation of chicken pox. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herpes_zoster Don't go into work if you think you have it as it's one of those old people killing things and can be very nasty for some people. iirc your doctor should give you a 2 week sick note as it lasts a week (wiki is all doom and gloom worst case scenario) and then you are still contagious for another week when the symptoms are gone.

edit: you can get shingles time and time again, even if you have had chicken pox

It's true that you can't get chickenpox twice, however, you can get shingles, which can be even nastier if you're very sick, elderly or seriously run down. Shingles is a reactivation of the chickenpox virus in people who have, obviously, had chickenpox before. Incubation period of the virus before spots emerge is 3-5 days, so it's unlikely to be that. Unless you're seriously worn out and stressed from your job, and I don't want you getting hypochondriacal here as I seriously doubt you are that stressed out, it's very rare to get it bad as a young adult. It's main victims are elderly people and people with immunodeficiency diseases such as HIV or people undergoing chemotherapy.

Your spots and mouth ulcers are probably stress related and will disappear in a few days. Having said that, Carys has recently had shingles but she said it was nothing, just a mildly irritating rash on her lower back which went after a few days. As stated there, the outbreak of the spots tends to be very localised to a small part of the body.
