It's the Aston Martin they have to make to comply with EU laws that all manufacturers have to make at least one tiny, ugly, shitty hatchback city car.

IIRC, it is something to do with the EU's "All different models of cars made by a manufacturer must have an average pollution level of X" so Aston martin has had to buy a toyota and rebadge it to pull the average down.

If they're going to sell a half-arsed rebadged Toyota, they should do it properly. Buy a bunch of iQs, and get some minimum-wage teenager to write "ATSON MARRTIN" on the bonnet with a permanent marker.

As I think I said at the time when I originally posted the comedy picture of it last month, Aston don't have much of a choice but to do something like this as I think they're the only EU based car manufacturer that has enough volume to fall foul of the mandatory CO2 caps for car manufacturers but isn't owned by a larger manufacturer who already has small cars in it's range to compensate.

That's a render, which is slightly cheaty of Richard as the actual car is out in the wild and it doesn't look anywhere near as good as that in reality. In fact it looks identical to the iQ with just different lights, grill, VERY EXPENSIVE interior.

As an unashamed fan of the Toyota iQ, the Aston Martin Cygnet has always made me want to poke my eyes out with a rusty spoon.

Surely you should be depressed that all Toyota makes now, car-wise, are ugly hatchbacks? Until that new-Celica (FR86?) thing comes, that is.

Oh, I am. I'd love for them to make some exciting cars again. The iQ is probably the quirkiest car of their current line-up, hence my like of it.

The FT-86 sounds interesting on paper, but unless they release a turbocharged AWD model, I'm not interested that much

Unless you're talking about the most recent MR2 (the Roadster) I'm not that knowledgeable about them. I'll try and help though.
