The Sims 3 is coming to consoles, and YerpPlonks review suggests it's as good a port of the computer versions as you could really hope for. None of the quasi-adventure stylings of previous console "Sims" games.

Other reviewers aren't as flattering, with Metro making the rather vivid point that the console versions are a bit like watching a VHS copy of a Bluray. The town your Sims live in is smaller and less busy, you are restricted to six family members, and only some of the expansion pack goodies have made the transition.

I really like The Sims but am unsure which version to get, especially as Mrs Meaty wants to play. Console for accessiblity, or computer for the full experience?

Mrs TrouserBulge is a Sims fanatic, and the very thought of having any sort of restrictions on what she can do would make her very angry. Get the PC version, she loves it. It took her a while to "get over" The Sims 2, though. Especially because she had all of the expansions and stuff for 2, and 3 was sparse by comparison, although I understand it is a lot deeper gameplay wise. Also, there are a few expansions and stuff packs now, which she has, and which have improved the game a lot - she says.

I had the PC version and loved it but stopped playing at the beginning of the year when I was a bit fragile because my Sim Gilly and Jen were getting old and the state I was in I doubt I'd have survived witnessing their wee Sim deaths! :D
I loved the game though, and I'm tempted to get it for the 360 so I can play it on the couch or in bed...hmm.

I need to also buy the PC copy again because my dog ate the last one ?:|

SimSteve and SimKate had the aging turned off in Sims 2. We ended up not playing with them much as watching our dopplegangers climbing into bed and spooning was a bit unnerving.

I get the feeling I'll be getting the computer version as for the price of the 360 version I can get at least one expansion pack to bulk the items out a bit. After having the original with the excellent "Livin Large" stuff, Sims 2 felt very sparse in terms of furnishings and decor.

Pretty sure there's a "deluxe" edition of the PC version now anyway, which comes with one or more of the expansions for the price of the normal game.

I think it would lend itself more to a PC game, which frees up the XBox for your fine self.

If you go around telling everyone, it's not a secret any more, is it?
