Apologies if this has been done or referenced before, but a search for 'Plinkett' and 'redletter' finds nothing, 'phantom menace' finds NervousPete quite justifiably ripping into The Phantom Menace a couple of years ago.

They both run a 30-60 second advert before starting, but it's entirely worth waiting, and whilst the reviews are long (1 hour plus) I think they're fantastic. You can go ad-free on YouTube but they're sliced into 10 minute chunks.

All the Star Trek reviews are excellent too. Avatar and Baby's Day Out less so, but still good.

I am in no way affiliated with the redlettermedia site, but I think the reviews are pure genius, extremely well put together, and truly nail how FUCKING AWFUL the Star Wars prequels are.

I remember watching them when they were released and thinking 'This is really bad' without ever working out why. Well, Plinkett will tell you.

This makes no sense, as the prequels are ace.

Anyone who thinks different is broken and an infidel.

Well that was an hour! Bloody great though. Favourite bit was the "why don't the Jedis sprint again?" bit.

I think I might have posted about these before, but can't remember. They're ace though.

And the entire sitcom-laugh-track bit with Palaptine and that Sith-looking horned lackey of his bewailing the choice of Jar-Jar as senator.

And the reaction of Lucas's team when they see the final edit of Phantom. That 'Oh fuck, what have we done?' expression.

I really hate the prequels.

It was you that linked to these before Pete, I remember devouring all his reviews in one long chuckle fest. Interesting style the guy has.

I figured it most likely had been done before but couldn't find it on a search, and if a few new people get to see the reviews then it's all to the good

I tried to watch Episode One about ten times but got so fucking bored at the half way point I always gave up.

I never watched Ep1.

But then again, I wasn't so impressed with any one the ones I did see, including the originals.

What the hell, Dave? What the hell?! First you don't like dogs, now you seem half-arsed about Star Wars. What next?

I'd not seen his babies day out review, so that was nice.

The stories entirely derivative and for the most part predictable, the setting is fairly naff, and overall left me feeling fairly unsatisfied. If I'd been youngeer, maybe I might have been more impressed, but first time I saw them I'd have been preparing for my GCSEs.

What next? I also don't like your mum. She's too saggy, and she has a mouth like a filthy drain.

It did look a spectacularly awful film from the review, no idea what made him pick it for the Plinkett treatment though.

At least they have decent characters and fairly simple, strong plots, and some really effective baddies.

The prequels are all over the place, the originals had a recognisable story structure and didn't feel the need to chuck in all the pointless confusing shite that the prequels do. ('Ooooohhhh trade disputes and interplanetary taxes!')

I'm not saying that the originals are absolute masterpieces of film, but they're light years better than the prequels.

I'm not a fan either.

The best thing I can say about Eps 2&3 is that I don't remember anything about them. Except for the naff "NOOOOOO" thing at the end.
Funnily enough, that's also the worst thing I can say about them.

I think that basically sums up how interesting I found the plot.
