Lift To Experience were a fucking good band, and their 'The Texas - Jerusalem Crossroads' is a bit of a cult classic. But most still won't know them. However, since I have already uploaded the first track on their one (and only) album, for someone else, why then this just seems a lovely chance to introduce more of you to their goodness.

Get it here. In AAC format (so you'll need iTunes or Winamp, if you can't play it in your favourite player).

From me to my bezzie mates, with love.

Like a more sleepy Jeff Buckley fronting Explosions In The Sky using Kyuss' amps, musing on faith and the loss of it, as produced by the Cocteau Twins*.

ALso: oops! Gnggh. Having an 'edit' button for everyone, not just yourself, is a dangerous things.

* This bit is true.

I love Lift To Experience. Saw them twice, seen Josh T Pearson twice, he's a fantastic bloke, and theirs is my favourite album of the decade by a long, long way.

That is all.

Never saw LTE live but caught a few of Josh's solo shows / supports with Dirty 3 and and picked up some self produced cd's - there are a couple of tracks on my muxtape.

throughsilver, I only just now noticed your Temple of the Morningstar avatar. That is an excellent, excellent record.

It is, and it's a horrible record. There are heavier albums. There are darker albums. But I don't think I've heard anything quite as seedy as that one (well, outside the NWW/TG/Coil scene).

But yeah, Lift To Experience. Ridiculously amazing. And I know it's the done thing to compare them to MBV et al (and I'm not dissing), but they seriously transcend all comparisons.

Lift To Experience sound like a lesser Slint? That doesn't make a lick of sense. I literally can't think of a single thing about them that's like Slint, and I'll even bet that you can't, either. YOU FAIL AT PRETENTIOUS DISCUSSION OF THINGS THAT ARE USUALLY LUMPED TOGETHER AS POST-ROCK BY LAZY JOURNALISTS.

Now, Shellac, on the other hand, hell yeah.

I dislike Slint. They are recommended constantly to me by earnest-looking students, who cry when I start yeling about Steve Albini and Jesus and Mary Chain and stuff.

Ooo, it's snowing!

Half of 'Spiderland' is very good-to-excellent, the rest of their stuff is embarassingly overrated (Well, most folks don't like Tweez, but you get my point).
