Anyone else here going to glastonbury, I set off tomorrow morning, since I am on the early shift (stewarding)

We could have a BETEO Cider drink-off.

I have been to every Glastonbury since 1998. This year would have made it a complete decade.

Then my mate decided he'd get married that weekend, and make me Best Man.

So I'm not going.

At least I can mumble in a corner and complain that it isn't as good as it used to be, etc etc etc.

Heh, I first went when I was 5 (iirc), all I remember is the proclaimers, and being offered heroin.

Glastonbury or Glasgow anyway.

This is my first year off since 2003. I just can't be bothered with it anymore, as last year was such a chore. Shame, as it used to be a great festival.

I'm off to the Green Man Festival instead. Can't do huge festivals anymore, too many littering wankers. Green Man is lovely and some ace bands, and it is tidy.

Went to Bearded Theory earlier in the year, (coldest festival ever) and am off to The Big Chill in August. They'll do for now.

I'm going this year. Got some lovely vouchers in the post for two free pints of Brothers Pear Cider today too.

I'm going to Glastonbury again! Set off on Friday, and I think it's exactly what I need right now.

I last went in 2007 and don't really have the inclination to go again. It was just a nightmare to get anywhere with the increased ticket numbers and camping spaces, yet the main arenas were all the same size. It was just gridlock and took forever to get anywhere (the mud didn't help either).

I've never been.

Yesterday I saw a guy with a 'Fleetwoodstock Festival 08' Tshirt on. I would have liked to have attended that event.

I can't think of anything worse than camping in a field with pissed up trustafarians, eating overpriced shit food and drinking overpriced shit lager.

I tend to spend most of my time at The Park, which is never that busy, and then the Oxfam camping area is always full of lovely/friendly/polite people.

However, for added awkwardness, my ex is going to be there too.

Are all your friends trustafarians, then? I always took my own alcohol with me and mostly cooked my own food. All my camping friends are fucking ace, so it was always a good laugh.

I do miss it, but to be honest, I'd rather just go and camp somewhere with the same people for £3 a tent and get pissed up listening a CD player. Oh wait, that's what we're doing next weekend.

I do miss it, but I just can't justify the expense any longer, now I have a house and other grown up responsibilities.

I have never been to a festival.

I always think that He-who-shall-not-be-named's articles on Glastonbury to be some of the most fun things he ever wrote.

i haven't been in a proper camping festival (outside of Lisbon) since 01, and honestly, it's going to take many good bands for me to go again.

Most commercial festivals will contain these twats, as long as you avoid them and get yourself decent camping it's fine

Glasto tends to not, though, as June is when they're all doing their exams.

At Leeds, the Oxfam camping is ace, and also Radiohead are playing.

And also, some of those post-GCSE twats will be pretty girls.

Yes, most of us are too old to be chasing after 16-year-old girls, though.

I miss Glastonbury and wanted to go this year, but couldn't justify the expense as I'm spending all my money on a wedding.

Working for Oxfam, and I got the early shift, so I work Sat, Sun, Mon, then I have Tuesday til Thursday to chill, and then the festival starts on Friday.

Finish work on Friday evening for a weekend of wedding and family visits, then should be in the gate at 9am on Wednesday. Can't fucking wait. That year off hurt.

Still? Most of the 16 year olds I know (which is a lot as I have a 15 year old daughter) are finishing this week.

The only way you could get me to Glastonbury is if I could afford a FOAD winnebago.

Hmmm, well I've got a teacher friend who can never go to Glasto because she's always invigilating over that period.

I suspect the scheduling varies then depending on the LEA. Or it's down to what courses you're sitting. Being a teacher will mean you have to be there until the bitter end for that GCSE in Shorthand or something

Really nothing wrong with being young and single. Especially at a festival.

Either way, I don't think I'd enjoy Glastonbury at all.

I'd love to go to a festival, but I absolutely hate crowded places, mostly as I think people in crowds tend to act stupidly (or rather more stupid) and inconsiderately.
