I'll be there for more shooty shooty bang bang fun.

I'm sure there'll be enough non-footy fans (or non English footy fans) to have fun.

Scotland play Spain tonight. lol.

Anyway, I'm thinking about going and trading this in this afternoon. I keep trying to like Halo, but then finding I want to play other games more. I mean, I ignored this to start playing Civ Rev again and I hand't touched it for months!

No, your plans are to play Halo Reach every Tuesday, and you've cancelled those to swan off with your new footie mates. It's completely unacceptable.

Well that wasn't worth it. As usual, England were awful. I did get a sentimental catchup with an old friend though, which you can't put a price on. I'm also really pissed.

It's true.

Good fun last night, I did enjoy the rocket race (sorry for drowning you SHUS). Also sorry for being a rubbish vampire - that game mode really threw me and I'm not exactly great to start with.

There is a file in my file share of the first Rocket race(I played) and I was with EggWan. We fired a missile that sent DBSnappa and ItsAllWater SOOOOOO high in the air! I will try and find the correct bit later, it was funny!

Yes, that was amusing. We were all hanging around outside, smoking fags and laughing at Pundy killing you repeatedly. I like the infection games most at the moment, followed by slayer types.

I'm rubbish at the Rocket Race games but I hope I will get better. As for the Swat and Slayer pro games they just show up the massive difference between me being relatively inexperienced at FPS games and the likes of Perkies and GY who seem to be able to headshot you while leaping around like a loon.

When I play video games that part of my brain that controls my ability to suppress the majority of my verbal impulses is too busy going CLICKY CLICKY BUTTON VIDEO GAME BOOM to work properly.

I'm quite sorry you kept getting stuck with me. Rocket race flusters me -- hence the random babbling to myself in the third person -- and I'm the WORST driver. If my mongoose driving skills translated to my actual motorcycle riding ones, I would just endlessly, indecisively circle intersections on my little Honda until someone ran me over while I kept honking the horn.

Also, how did I end up winning that awful three round ordeal with the golf clubs? I couldn't even see anything.

Playing SWAT with Jonarob earlier yesterday I didn't feel much like the player you describe! I think there might be a sweet spot between staying still enough to get a bead on people and being mobile enough to avoid the opposite happening. There's no perfect solution and if I was getting you often then you're probably a little more static than most, or my lines of sight to you last longer.

SWAT is good though for a number of reasons - it's uncomplicated so no faffing, body shots aren't any use against a decent opponent so you are basically just trying to DMR people in the noggin. A fair amount of my Halo is SWAT these days, it improves my accuracy and suddenly my focus is on the maps layouts, lines of sight and position of my reticle as I'm coming round corners... you want it at roughly the height of people's heads as they come in the opposite direction, roughly where it's going to have a short travel distance to any appearing target. And then only fire when you are sure. The instinct is to start blasting when the enemy is visible, that'll see you dead. Furthermore, choke points where you are more or less covered and you know enemies WILL be coming through are handy. In the Counterstrike map, the open space has that raised bit, crouching there and aiming down the tunnel works a treat, for example, just keep your sights at the right height and they'll pour through eventually. I'd have scored more if Mr. Dave hadn't been lurking near the entrance and blocking my lines as he got up close and personal with Shoesonwrong :D

I suppose it's the equivalent of getting clutch control and breaking sorted before trying to cope with traffic lights and other drivers in a town.

Good SWAT maps for me are Zealot and Countdown and Boardwalk, as one can stay moving forward and do circuits of certain areas (or laps, in Zealot) whilst concentrating on keeping your sights at the correct height. Boardwalk is particularly testing in SWAT as the lines of sight are greater for you and your opponent, you'll die more practising this on that one. I've gone from coming last to not often totally last and sometimes doing ok since I started SWATting, a few mp hours of play ago. I still spin hopelessly in close-quarted combat on Reflection and Powerhouse though.

Finally, Team SWAT is TEAM SWAT. If you can accurately describe or name areas and relay opposition movements to your squad, that's always worth a few kills. This is partly why I'd like to have a beex expeditionary force for play against randoms - the lack of XP gained in Bezzy matches is galling and while it's no fun being pwned by four well organised Halo vets, pre-teen or otherwise, there's no substitute for a good bit of teamwork practice and improvement in the 'real world'.

Shooty pew-pew! And communicate! I think it's possible to pretty much marmalise any given server with a bit of communication and teamwork, regardless of skill level.

When are we playing? Tomorrow night? I'm uploading a HD video to YouTube and its ETA is 135 minutes, so I'm tied up for tonight... I only started doing it to test it out really. Bloody slow upload speed.

How are people fixed for tomorrow night then?

If few are available, maybe the BEF can make a night of it?

I'll probably be in this evening for a bit but we have guests and I will probably stop if they keep trying to have conversations with me and stuff.

Can't afford the £4.50 or so for Forest Player until I get a job, so no, I won't be listening. Looks like me and Shoesonwrong for Halo then. Poor cow, I'm just going to spend the whole evening trying to make her do noises.
