Came across this a couple of weeks ago and its been in my fridge awaiting a tasting.

It's not quite the quality of Luscombe Cool Ginger Beer but is streets ahead of Fentimans standard flavour. The high price is reflected in the fact it came from a farm style shop in Dorset but it was also dearer than the standard Fentimans (all organic you see).

Nice flavour, a slight lemon taste is in there.

The organic thing is fairly pointless and pushes up the price but it is pleasant. But not as nice as the Luscombe.

Score: 903 Bananas

I saw some the other day but we didn't get any. Organic Food is banned at MaliTowers for reasons I won't go into as this is about something else. I've never tried Fentimans but will give it a go.

Is Ginger beer the same as root beer? How much ginger can you taste? I like Blandford Fly beer, and that is the upper limit of Ginger for me.

A fair amount but its more lemony than standard ginger beer. The idea is that it's not a hot burny type of ginger beer (which I dislike).

Normal Fentimans aren't organic. Not sure the reasoning why this flavour is.

I've just been to our local "posh" cinema, where behind the bar they had every popular variety of Fentimans going with the exception of Andy Bear Cola, which is the only one that I like. So I had to make do with normal Coca-Cola. Bah.

You see, the thing is that Mrs Chinny tried it and loved it. I also read that Rose Lemonade is a hugely popular drink in the middle east (in places like Lebonon).

I find it rather morish, but only as an occasional treat. Also, if warm it's actually pretty horrid, but cold I found it lovely.

If you want a cool ginger beer, I do place the Luscombes above the Fentimans version. But finding Luscombes outside the West Country is like finding rocking horse shit.

The orange is odd, eventually decided I didn't like it. I also don't care for their standard ginger beer or lemonade. I'm also not a shandy fan, but the Mrs is and she says the Fentimans Shandy is very nice.

So, what's the difference between a 'cool' ginger beer and a regular ginger beer?

I enjoy a Fentiman's as a rare treat (except the Dandelion & Burdock one - never again), but can feel my teeth beginning to dissolve just looking at the bottle!

Usual price is around £1.05 for the standard flavours from supermarkets. The shop had the standard flavours at £1.20, so the organic comes at a 14p premium.

It gets better. Twice a year Waitrose will do a 4 for 3 offer. Usually at the start of Summer and near to Christmas.

Actually it's £1.15 as I just bought some. Price must have gone up at some stage.

Meanwhile I just bought a can of this:

Can't quite make up my mind.

I do however find the sudden abundance of different colas pleasing. It's like being a kid again.

Now if only someone would bring out a clear cola.......

It's OK as long as you only drink it from the can. Only a small selection of glasses are compatable and there is the side effect that people who drink it become crushing sandal wearing bores. :DD

No no, Fentimans is your Apple equivalent. Twice the price but strangely addictive.

That's a lot of cola you'd end up with if that piddly wee amount of ingredients makes 5 fucking gallons :D

There's a lot of water in Coke - 99% of a can is water.
Excellently, it actually takes nearly three litres of water to make 1l of Coke when you include things like washing equipment in the factories, etc.
