It's going right down to the last match. Looking like 15-13 to Europe.

I think the phrase you're looking for is, "waste of a good walk"

I caught a bit yesterday, to find jock-like hooting and open-mouthed gum-chewing.

I thought golf wouldn't attract those types of people.

I expect NervousPete to know who that was without looking it up.

I have often considered golf to be played by the socially aspirational. Certainly, many folks from Chavpub play golf on a regular basis.

I love golf.

What an amazing end to an amazing competition! So close!

Awesome.

Bravo G-Mac for bringing it home.

Golf is great fun to play, don't think I'd ever watch it.

I've seen a couple of matches that were pretty exciting. Mostly though it's one of those sports, like snooker, that I can best enjoy on a lazy Sunday afternoon in between dozing on the sofa. It is pretty fun to play, even though I feel as though I might just as well be rolling dice to determine the outcome, such is my total lack of skill.

I'm exactly the same, but then it's one of those activities like fishing. No-one goes fishing to actually catch any fish, you go for a bit of wind-down time.

Use of the verb 'go' in the context of "Go <sports team>" is nearly as reprehensible as using "Team GB" instead of "The British Team". In the UK, the correct term is "Come On <sports team>".

I appreciate however that the OP was being either ironic or foreign and intend no offence nor criticism towards him in particular.

Golf however is just ostentatious snooker.

Although, if you miss out the comma it sounds dirty.

This is why if any beexer ever ends up owning a racehorse, they should call it "My Tits".

You could probably get away with 'Might Hits' and I'm sure there's a greyhound owner somewhere in the world would be willing to take up the suggestion of not an horsie racerer.

kaasschaaf - cheese slicer
stroopwaffles - treacle waffley goodness.

Is it possible to move to Holland and survive with that level of knowledge of the Dutch language?

Yes, because everyone there speaks mind-bogglingly good English.

I used to think that Germans were all like that. Until I met my girlfriend's wider family. There's one who speaks passable basic English, the rest... (Well, that might be because they are from the East.)

They wouldn't have been allowed to learn the capitalist pig-dog language.
