Who watched the opening ceremony last night then? Not quite as fancy as the Beijing opening, and the people with huge heads zipping around on those little cars was a bit freaky, but otherwise pretty good, I reckon. I liked the sand painting and the rise-up-lighty-yoga-dude.

I do like the Commonwealth Games - where else do you get to see the English badminton team play the Falkland Islands ( total number of badminton players in the Falklands is roughly 40 ), or watch the Niue lawn bowls team in action?

I like to think of it as a cut-down, less professional and slightly wonky version of the Olympics, where all the odd countries that would never normally make it get to play.

Go Norfolk Island!

I forgot about this, which is quite a surprise given the brou-ha-ha that has been going on of late about the corruption in India and the prospect of death by automatic weapon wielding fanatics but then the Welsh decided not to go or something like that which is a shame but nevertheless I suppose I shall endeavour to watch at least some of it even though "who can run the fastest" isn't really a sport but no doubt the tellybox will be showing loads of it in an effort to whip us up into great excitement for the olympics that are coming for London and McDonald's I was reading is to train some number of thousands of people up to volunteer to help which MrsA found to be very interesting as she's got a book to do or maybe one of her colleagues which is an NVQ in Crowd control and safety so I suppose further that this is positive steps to help some people take some steps in the right direction albeit slower than Mister Bolt and his friends.

My head hurts after reading that sentence. Although my head was hurting anyway.

I look forward to supporting the Cornish team.

They did get to enter, right?

It is with sadness that I have to inform you Campaign Kernow has been suspended.

Meanwhile, I would like to pay tribute to all those magnificent people who have pledged and given their full support to this venture.

A full update will appear here at the earliest opportunity, though unfortunately I cannot say when.

Cash donations over £5 will be returned as soon as possible should our worst fears be confirmed.

The fight will continue with a different strategy which has yet to be discussed.

It would appear not. As there is no explanation, one can only assume it was due to fundamental problems with their plans.

But in seriousness, I will probably watch lots of it using the iPlayer, as I like it when not so mainstream sports are on the telly.
