Might be an obvious question, but is there an rss type thing for torrents to automagically download stuff. I find it a chore when there's many shows underway

I try TED again every year or so, discover it's still crap, and go back to RSS feeds and uTorrent's name filter.

But where do I find these RSS feeds? I so lazy..

There is an orange RSS button which can give you the feed for the show you want. What you then do with it, I've no idea, but I assume using uTorrent is a start. I use Transmission though.

There's links to the RSS feeds in there! Plug those into a client that supports them - such as azureus, and you're done.

Automatic (get it?) is a Transmission add-on that supports RSS downloading.

(Wasn't the now-included Transmission web UI also called Clutch?)

If you're downloading automagically, you don't care about bloat or about controlling it.

Well, I care if it hogs a CPU and all the ram, and I care about controlling it to be able pause torrents if I want to watch Sky or play something online on the Xbox. And to see what's downloaded yet.

So that's why I'm using Transmission!

Anyway, it was an example of what you can do with EVERY TORRENT CLIENT EVER.

Got that Automatic thing. It looks pretty clever and may be tempted to pay the $20 if I actually see it working before the trial runs out.

RSS feeds are working like a charm, btw

Tried using Ted for the first time this year and it is basically useless!

Chuck and House shown last night, Ted found 10 torrents for each of them and didn't download because none of the torrents were any good apparently. A quick manual add of the same torrent files and they downloaded fine.

House for example Ted didn't download because I told it to download the HD variant, and none of the torrents had HD and 720p in the title. Of course they didn't, because the convention is 720p and HDTV, but Ted can't handle that...

I'll keep it as it is quite a good tool to let me know when shows are going to be shown, but I'll just carry on manually scanning the ez rss feed once every couple of days to actually get the downloads.

Doesn't uTorrent have a built-in RSS feed thingy? I used to use the Demonoid RSS feed for a particular show and shove it in uTorrent and away we go! I don't bother anymore, though because "other people" use the internets, so I have to torrent late at night. Wankers.

Utorrent does on Windows, but it's a bit shit on OSX and doesn't on this version. I'm using transmission.

It's no hardship using my current method, but Ted is supposed to stop you having to setup your own RSS feeds.

I got the 'Automatic' thing for transmission that Doc recommended. So far it's not actually downloaded anything, as far as I can tell.

Well there were new episodes of Castle / Chuck / House last night so if it was suppose to do any of those then its not setup correctly.

Is it struggling because it's searching for the episode title, and that NZB doesn't mention it?

It shouldn't be a problem, it should be robust enough for that...

It looks like the search option, isn't actually a search! It's a get the latest feed from RSS and add it to the cache, then search that. Which is pretty useless for anything over about an hour old!

Load of rubbish, i'll leave it going and see if it can pick anything more up as and when they get added to the rss feed. I would just add one of the listed files that it did get into its cache to test it out, but you can't just add a show to sick beard, you can only add shows that you already have an episode downloaded, another crazy design choice!

I managed to frig it so that I could add a show without needing to already have an episode, so I added The Good Guys, which I know is in the cache, because it is named in the log file as being added.
Can it find it? can it fuck.

I give up.

I usually use an eztv rss feed, which is working fine for me, but they don't always have all the shows I want, and not always in 720p, which can be a bit frustrating.

I would have a look at TV Torrents, but you need an invite from a current member to register

I use Usenet for my tv shows. That way I don't have to bother with sharing back. I do use TV-Torrents a bit though.

I left Sickbeard running overnight and it has started to find episodes! Joy

All I need is to connect it up to sabnzb and choose a usenet supplier to use and i'm off and running...

Last night I managed to get Sick Beard and Sabnzbd+ up and running and actually talking to each other and downloading stuff automagically.

Fuck me that was an ordeal, but I was determined to make it work once I had started. Hardly user friendly in its install or setup!

Now to decide on who I want to go with as my usenet supplier, I got an el-cheapo 3 day account at UsenetServer to test everything out with, and that worked, so tempted to stay with them on their $10 a month, all you can eat deal.

I'm trying out blocknews, 25 Gig cost about a fiver and you can use it whenever.

Sick Beard tracks all the TV shows I watch and automatically grabs the nzb file when they are shown, and fires that nzb over to sabnzbd, which downloads it for me. All without any user intervention...

...ideally anyway, it was a right bitch to get working, but all seems fine now
