In the Current Economic ClimateTM, any extra is a good thing really. Huzzah! Plus, if your company is paying you more, presumably they're not about to go horribly bankrupt. Double huzzah!

We just had our annual payrise even though we're closing.

But then we're the government, which explains everything.

On a personal level, it was the first pay rise I'd had since 2006, but that was when I left IT Support and I had been receiving my IT allowance on a mark-time basis since then, so I was getting more than other plebs at my grade anyway. This year the salary finally caught up with my bung, hence the rise.

This time next year I'll be:

a) Working in the private sector.

b) A millionaire.

Unless you're a Tunnock's worker. They went on strike last week because they were offered a 2% wage rise & it wasn't as much as previous rises :belm:

She'd be cutting off her nose to spite her face there, then. Silly woman. At least if she lets you live you might look after it when you get back.

This is clearly one of those situations where the government would be right to send in the Army to take over, like they do with the fire brigade. Luckily, the British Strategic Teacake Reserve should see us through this difficult time.

I know! It's not too bad though as I only eat them once in a blue moon, but if A.G. Barr's workers ever went on strike then people would die!

[/edit]Actually, it great swathes of the civil service and local authority departments that are closing or being decimated and replaced, not the Gu'm'nt. However, your observation would have remained valid had I been talking about Big Cunt Tree.

[/edit] No, with B&B it's £35 per night and no girls in the rooms after 9pm. Cash in advance, if you please. And two quid extra for use of the cruet at breakfast.

I've had three rather generous payrises in the last three years along with annual bonuses, and I might be getting another one very soon due to promotion.

On the other hand, we're being outsourced next year. You win some, you lose some.
