I'm sure this thread has been done before, but what the hell.. it's Friday and I figured it'd be fun.

I'm thinking of having a Halloween party next month and need to build up a playlist of spooky songs. This is where the forum comes in... any suggestions?

I'll start.

Thriller - Michael Jackson
The Monster Mash - Bobby "Boris" Pickett

Go! :metul:

DJ P's 'Hell On Wheels' mix CD's are fab halloween/horror based mixes with nearly all the horror songs you can think of included. If you can't come across a copy I can probably find one for you..

Snatch up all the kiddies and then hold them all for ransom.

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath? Or even Type O Negative's version for maximum horror evils. Loads of stuff by Alice Cooper.

Also, the whole episode of Garfield in Disguise is a big ton of aceness, music and all.

Halloween by Siouxsie and t'Banshees. For people who tolerate gothic rock. The rest of the Juju album is great for anyone who likes that kind of thing (non-novelty Halloween-ish songs).

Damn, beat me to it, sir. Thought of that last night but didn't get around to posting it. Err...

Smashing Pumpkins: Tonight, Tonight
The Cure: Lullaby (though it is a bit slow, actually. But very Halloweeny.)
Any Cocteau Twins :luv:

I'll think of some actual monster related songs eventually. ?:|

Blinded by Fear - At the Gates.

Also, either Portrait of an American Family or the remix album Smells Like Children, in its entirety.

You can do it on the "upload attachment" section below the box where you type your message. Just below where the submit button is.... You'll see.

I do tolerate goth (and worship Siouxsie). Was going to suggest this myself. But pretty much all of Juju is ideal for Halloween. Voodoo Dolly especially. Super spookfest that, particularly the Nocturne rendition.

Just had a re-listen after several years, and it's a rather siouxperb album. An all-time classic, and that's coming from someone who thinks most supposedly 'classic' albums aren't. Classic.

Back to NervousPete's mention of The Cure, I do like their 1982 album Pornography for the ghostly atmosphere, A Strange Day and Cold particularly. Whether it works as a Halloween album or not, that's debatable, but for (genuine) gothic-rock music, it's an essential.

Indeed. Robert Smith has particularly nice arches.

I'd say Faith is perhaps more goth than Pornography, or at least more bleak. Also with Siouxsie pretty much every album is a classic. Join Hands is more stark and bleak than Juju. More tomblike.
