Hello! I would like some help please.

I have some Office 2000 docs and ppts that I need converting into pdfs. Does anybody know of any freeware software for doing this that doesn't need to be installed and doesn't screw up the universe?

Thank you!

In case anybody is disappointed that this wasn't an elaborate ruse employing reverse psychology, you can listen to this nifty song instead.

Cute pdf is good. But it needs to be installed.... you just go to print and choose to print as pdf.

There's some web sites that will do it online. Like this http://www.freepdfconvert.com/ don't know how well it works or copes with large files though. Or there's this http://www.dopdf.com/ which claims to be a free PDF convertor for Pee Cee. No doubt there are others.

Do you already have Office installed? There's a free plugin from Microsoft that will export to PDF for Office 2003 and 2007.

Where can I get this plugin, and does it work with Office 2000?

No, it doesn't. I don't think MS supports Office 2000 any more.

For other versions, search for saveaspdforxps.exe

If you have a Mac you can just print to PDF.

File > print > PDF > save as PDF.

Open Office will open Office files and export as .pdf.

It's quite a meaty download just to convert some documents to .pdf, but it does at least allow you more control than other free alternatives.

*edit*

Should have mentioned, you can get Open Office as a Portable App that doesn't need to be installed, in case that wasn't clear...

:this:

(If you have a Mac, or a Mac user pal who can help. It's a deity-send feature of Mac OS X, and makes saving webpages, for example, a breeze.)

Get CutePDF writer. Small, free and installs as a print device meaning you can use anything and print to PDF.

Aye, it seems CutePDF Writer is indeed the way to go. Thanks, Dimrill. :smug:

I was reluctant to install anything along those lines as they're nearly always crippleware, and they nearly always never uninstall cleanly. (The first thing Cute asked me when I ran the installer was if I wanted to install the Ask! Toolbar. I said no.)

This thing also requires me to install Ghostscript, which I've gotta remember to get rid of when I'm done.

Thanks to everybody else as well! Though I don't have a Mac, I only have Office 2000, and OpenOffice makes a right pig's ear of the formatting when I import it. :)

And the printer runs out of ink before it's finished even the first copy. Out of three.

I R PRO.

I would have said CutePDF too.
Or, like, actual Adobe writer version about 4, which gives you a tool-bar pdf icon on office 2000 IIRC.
