Appropriate thread:

Multiplayer reveal trailer, more info coming September the 1st 2010.

Personally I think it looks like more of the same with even more rubbish gadgets that arseholes can exploit to camp for longer. The whole killstreak thing I could do without, personally, and it's why I always play the Barebones playlist in MW2. Killstreaks just encourage camping. So yeah, as expected, it looks to be the same game as MW2 with tat stuck on, just like World at War was to CoD 4, and considering how horribly unbalanced MW2 is already, I can't imagine what spy cameras and exploding remote control cars (really) are going to do to the game.

I think I've had my fill of CoDs now. Like you say it's just the same but with RC cars.

Meh.

LET'S STICK TAT IN! MORE TAT! STUFF! TITS!

Unless I can put a crudely drawn cock in there, in which case, I'm buying the Special Edition.

I might just stick with my lovely MW2.

Killstreaks are awesome because they are fun. FUN!

I thought it was a reference to the biblical things on US gun sights but, on actually reading the articles, it turns out it is the end of the serial number (eg. ACOG4X32JN8:12), not a priest holding a cross or anything.

It looks like fun, a daft take on the MW2 multiplayer. I don't care if it's unbalanced as long as it's silly.

Well I was gonna go to bed, but the cramp in my calf would keep me awake anyway, so might as well see what this CoDBLOPS multiplayer malarky is all about. There's a press event right now - 7PM PST (3AM UK), so I'll post some of the stuff that crops up. Apparently we get a proper look at what everyone will be playing for the next year...

Change of plan. Despite advertising extensively to the contrary, they're not allowing any recording of the presentation - text only - and they'll put a video up on their own website "in a couple of days". Amateurish cunts, I'm off to bed.

Massive meh - there's a new video online somewhere. They've added "credits", in-game currency which you earn and use to buy weapons now. You can also gamble it and double your credits or whatever by winning games. There's also loads of customisation and stick on tat stuff.

Some of the new game modes do look "fun", which is a bonus. Colour me slightly more intrigued.

That sounds pretty neat, though. Nice to have a change from "ooh, unlocked" slog slog slog "oooh, unlocked another gun I didn't want" more slog more slog more slog "ooh, unlocked a crappy attachment for a crappy gun I didn't want".

I'd far rather be able to earn credits and focus those on specific weapons.

Damn straight! I was more meh-ing at the fact that they've completely lifted the credits thing from Halo Reach. But yeah, assuming it does work how Kissyfur assumes - you can unlock any weapon immediately provided you have enough money, that's pretty good. In MW2 for example, I've never bothered with the AK47.

I'm more concerned about the hackers and glitchers ruining the game. I haven't played MW2 for about a month, maybe longer, but I bet you can still get in that fucking rock on Fuel.

Looks like the real deal comparing the UI in that to the official videos. It's essentially no different, except you can buy stuff instead of tediously unlocking them at certain levels. Good move if you ask me.

I've just watched the video on the dashboard. I was feeling a bit neutral about this game but that video has totally melted any doubts I may have had. It's MW2 only better, which is exactly how I like the series to develop. Seems like it's getting even more arcadey with the xp flying around like nobodies business but I like that and I don't have a single criticism of all the new features we've been shown. Customisation is great, from customisaing what weapons you use by choosing what guns and perks you unlock to customising what the weapons look like by changing the sights, the patterns etc. I also really love the idea of practice mp levels and the game camera that let's you review games and levels during play/after a defeat. The wager system put me off a bit when I read about it but again the video won me over. Who doesn't want to take a risk to get cool new guns or whatever, it gives you bragging rights or a great feeling if you win and even if you'd don't it's a fun new game mode!
I hope the game is as good as it looks right now but that's it confirmed, two copies are being purchased on release day in this house.

This is what was nagging at my sub-concious - MW2 needs to shed any pretentions that it's a "military simulator" of any sort or anything like that, what with all its minutiae of the weapons and stuff - it's a bloody arcade FPS and needs to embrace that and stop being so up its own arse. BO seems to do just that, and as such I Officially Approve This Product.

It appears so! Unless the second half of the list hasn't been announced yet. I can't help but think that this is anything but a good thing, seeing as killstreaks are the number one game ruiner for me - as discussed in another thread.

If I had my way, Chopper Gunner would be 25 kills.

I don't see why they've renamed the perks either - they ought just fucking accept it's an incremental update with new skins and maps as we all know it will be. I doubt many people will be bothered.

Have to say, was umming and arrraghing (SP?) over it, but it looks pretty good. What is the best pre order price peple have seen, and are we expecting another Tesco/Sainsbury's pissing contest on the price?

I may get this, but:

1 - it has those damned attack dogs

2 - it's by Treyarch, who normally produce inferior CoDs.

Hmm, if there is a move to Black Ops, then I may have 3 weeks of MW2 left, as I'll be playing F1 when I get back from Egypt.

I think there were deals from Tesco and Argos a while back but they seem to have dried up and your back to the £38 mark

http://bargaincomparison.com/gameprices ... B0036ORNUM

There are still a few months to go so still the chance of other deals , I did notice in Tesco this morning that they have the boxes on the shelves and are selling a 'pre-order' for a fiver - no idea how thats going to work for them (anyone else seen supermarkets doing pre-orders ?)

Pre-order for a fiver? That sounds like they're locking people in, which means it's probably not going to be cheap there.

Nazi Zombies confirmed <sorta>

http://www.vg247.com/2010/09/27/bradyga ... black-ops/

Quote:
Strategy guide publisher BradyGames has seemingly confirmed there will be Nazi Zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops.

BG, who are creating the strategy guide to the Treyarch shooter, press released the book on Friday. The PR mentions:

“Whether it’s a complete walkthrough to the gritty Cold War-era Campaign mode, tips and tricks to rank up in Multiplayer, how to excel in Co-Op, or fight back the relentless Nazi Zombie horde…”

Retailer listings from Play-Asia and GameStop have also mentioned the co-op mode, which debuted in World at War two years ago (thanks, EG).

It’s not the first time Nazi zombies have been spotted for Black Ops.

Four “zombie Maps Pack made famous from COD: World at War,” were listed by US retailer Best Buy before the info was yanked.

Call of Duty: Black Ops launches on November 9 for PS3, 360, PC, Wii and DS.

Isn't making games 3D compatible on a console not also going cripple them a bit? I mean might they not leave stuff out that they'd like to do but can't because of the 3D requirement?

After finally seeing some gameplay footage colour me interested. It basically looks like MW2. I don't give a shit about all the face masks and putting shit on the guns. But the shooting looks basically the same. It's like a whole new map pack.

MAP PACK
