Hi every one. Please can we keep this on topic and not start arguing?

My breeder has just emailed me saying that her local council have now issued an all out cease and desist on her breeding cats. Now I have rehomed one (Dolly, the white one) and I really thought the rest were all rehomed now. Sadly this seems not, and she has just contacted me desperately trying to find homes for these cats.

I'm not sure on the absolute specifics yet, but they will either be champion queen and stud bengal and savannah cats or ex breeding queens and studs (bengal or savannah).

Either way they will be the best examples of either you can find. Ages will range as will markings and colours, again I do not have the specifics on this.

Now. Obviously these cats are not bred to be let out (as we discussed before) due to the price they command and the fact that some may not adjust well to outside life. However, it's this or nothing. My breeder does not have long left now before these cats will end up having to be put to sleep.

I don't know if these cats can be shipped but I would strongly imagine so as they have been in the past, but collection can be arranged either via me (W Sussex) or directly from my breeder (Wimborne Dorset).

To cut a very long story short my breeder was breeding Abysinnians (sic) Russian blues, English blues, english short hair, Bengals, Savannahs etc. She purchased her farm specifically to expand her business as at the time she was doing well. Sadly some one has ratted her to the council and made them dig up papers and she is apparently not allowed to keep cat enclosures outside. As time has gone on this person (whoever the fuck it is, we have no idea but breeders can be incredibly cut throat) has done her level best to make sure my breeder does not breed or even keep any cats at the farm.

If you do not want to reply here then please feel free to PM me.

If required I can get specifics on ages, colours and breeds, but this is going to be a bit of a rush job. I'm pretty sure they will come vaccinated, chipped and registered as both of my girls have.

Thanks guys.

Thanks Craster :)

OK, after a two hour long phone convo I have gotten the details on the cats. Some I have info on now and some I don't. However, I need to point something out.

Recently the council gave my breeder until Oct 1st 2010 to remove all cats from the outside housing. This was fine and my breeder was slowly moving them inside and finding them new homes. However, the cats have now developed a condition that makes them sneeze from time to time. It's not a life threatening condition but if it gets worse it will need to be treated. If it worsens then the cat will show signs of a cold and have a runny nose. As I say, it's not life threatening and this condition exists in 95% of cats but they do not display any signs of it. It is also worsened by stress and the cats are stressed as hell ATM.

I can get more information on this, but in the worst case scenario they will need anti biotics. Again being honest I would not put them with other cats, but then that's just me. Hurley (my F1 female bengal) had Corona virus. This condition was found in all of my cats but it only made her ill.

Any way, the two I have details on right now are - (and all of them are Savannahs BTW)

Storm Cloud

Pet Name: Storm
Sex: Female
DOB: 30th April 2009
Generation (if EG): F4
Colour: Dark Silver
Pattern: Spotted

Image

Watneys Red Barrel

Pet Name: Watney
Sex: Male
DOB: 6th September 2009
Generation (if EG): N/A
Colour: Light Silver
Pattern: Spotted

Image

There is also a black melanistic Savannah called Mini. Who is F4

An F2 female called Joanna who is three.

And a 15 week old F2 Melanistic male. This kitten has sneezed twice in the last week.

This condition does go away, but all the time these cats are around each other and stressed it can get worse. As I say, they really need to go to loving homes where they will be looked after.

OK I got the info on what the cats have.

Quote:
Calicivirus

As many as 90% of URIs in cats are caused by these viruses. In adult cats the "flu" is usually mild, however the virus may linger in the cat's body and flare up again repeatedly over a period of years. Cats affected this way become "carrier cats" and shed the virus intermittedly to other cats they contact.

Vaccinations are available for these viruses, and although not 100% effective in preventing disease, the vaccine can reduce the severity of the "flu" and make it less likely to be passed on to other cats. All kittens need a foundation series of vaccinations, followed by a booster one year later. Vaccines are given by injection or intranasal drops and protection starts within four days to two weeks, depending on the method. The AAFP recommends 3-year boosters, however your own veterinarian may choose a different schedule if your cat is at high risk.

Treatment of Herpes/calicivirus may include antibiotics to ward off secondary bacterial infections. Some veterinarians have found success with Interferon, which helps to boost the immune system. Positive results have also been found with the administration of l-lysine in a dosage of 250-500 mg/day. Special attention should be paid to nutrition with URI-infected cats. Because of nasal stuffiness, they may not be able to smell their food, and refuse to eat. Sometimes warming the food a bit will pep up the odor and entice the cat to eat. Dehydration can be a real problem, so moist foods may be best for the cat under treatment, as well as water given by eye-dropper, if necessary.

And that's it. As I say I am being 100% honest. It's not a life threatening condition and can be easily treated if you care for the cat properly.

More info there.

Also, please be aware these are very large cats. The kitten will also grow to be a very large cat. Usually the size of a small to medium dog.

My cat had the sneezing thing what jc says is 100 percent right.
This was caused by stress and the reason he was rehomed to me.
He is totally fine now hasn't sneezed in over a year.

Yeah it's very common tbh. Something like 95% of cats carry it but never develop any symptoms.

Punzel sneezes from time to time and gets eye bogeys but it's easily taken care of. TBH Dolly needs the most looking after. She has a terrible digestive system due to her being close to the ALC in F. Because of this certain foods make her bleed quite badly. Oddly the only one that has pretty much sorted her out is Whiskas in jelly. Weird eh?

When I had her on SP her ears dried up and her fur started falling out.

Hey guys quick update. Most of the cats are now rehomed including the kitten. Storm is 'earmarked' at the moment and IIRC there are a couple of others left. One is a marbled female Savannah called Joanna who can not be put with other cats, and there may also be a couple of others.

Ugh. Old JC wishes he hadn't asked for pics now :(

I have a seriously soft spot for marbles... Must resist... Must resist...

Joanna.

Joanna is an F4 Savannah. However there are a couple of things to take into consideration.

The last time she had a litter she was caught trying to kill one of her kittens. As thus she was stopped from breeding. She was then put with other cats and rolled along fine.. Until she met one she didn't like. She can be pretty merciless so I don't suggest putting her with other cats tbh. Would make a cracking farm or barn cat though !

Feck. Joanna is actually an F3 female. Took some calculating but she's Storm's mother so yes, with Storm being F4 Joanna will be F3. And that's probably why she doesn't like other cats.

Due to popular demand here are some more pics of Storm. Absolutely stunning stunning cat. She's quite a size too, so may prove more than a match for Zio :DD

Dude I tell you, you will fucking love her. They're so much fun.

Every regular cat I have ever had has just been fat and happy, with the occasional purr here and there. Bengals and Savannahs however? friends for life. They're so loyal and playful it's just awesome.

There will never be a dull moment with her around :D

No problems. Thanks for giving her a home !

This is Nicola BTW. She was in the news with her F2 Savannah Annie last year.

Image

And take a look at this one...

Image

That guy is Nicola's husband. And if you look just in front of his left hand you will see that your cat has met more famous people than I have :D

They filmed about three hours of footage for "Joanna Lumley - Cat woman" last year :)

I watched every episode, and when the cats miaowed (but only the Bengals) Rapunzel started frantically searching the house :( That's why I got her Dolly :)

Hey all. There is now one cat left. The best has been saved until last now..

This cat is called Beauty. However she is an F2 which is the limit on owning one without needing a DWA license.

Thus I would reccomend having some experience with the breed, or, other similar breeds.

Now she would have been worth in excess of £10,000. I am not joking, that's what F2 sell for. They are always sold for breeding to make F3 with.

My breeder is asking £200 to cover vaccs and spaying.

As I say, it is strongly advised to know what you are doing with one of these animals.

Kalmar. You don't need a license for an F2, you do for an F1 or Serval.

This is why so many breeders use F2 because you don't have to pay thousands for a DWA license and you don't need cages and all sorts..

For an F2 she is tiny, but her wild markings are unbelievable. The coat changes colour ever so slightly and the spots are tiny.. That's basically how you tell she's very early. With my F1 bengal? well the cunt was just massive lol.

I mean I wouldn't consider her dangerous, but at the same time experience is a must. I didn't have any when I got my bengal (the big one) and I had to learn as I went along.

Knowing cats well (as in knowing and not going awwww and feeding them and letting them out) is good enough tbh.

I would have her. But again, my cats wouldn't like her (nor the other way around haha) but then bengals are different entirely. They're a lot more unpredictable and can be very spiteful.

F1 - serval/asian leopard cat + domesticated cat. Now I know with bengals they use tabbys. I think it's the same for the Savannah too.

F2 - two F1 cats.

F3 - F2 and other F cat. IIRC you can use F3 with F3 but the actual F comes from blood content of the wild cat. It's all very complicated and very tartsy but the lower the F? the bigger your bank balance becomes. A good F4 is worth around 2k. A good F3? double it. A good F2? triple it. IIRC a serval sells for around £25k but the DWA will probably cost you half of that and you pretty much have to shit out a kidney to get it. It's incredibly hard.

No, they generate static electricity & make your hair stand up. I wonder if you could generate enough electricity to power your home by making a load of them run through a polythene tunnel. The noise they'd make as they roared through the tunnel would be fantastic too.
