Perhaps this doesn't need a new thread, but the exodus from Iraq of the American "combat troops" (as distinct from "people with guns", who are staying) perhaps merits a moment's reflection. I would have giggled had Obama given a speech under a "Mission Not Accomplished" banner.

Mrs C and First Born were watching the news yesterday morning, and there was a thing about the Americans leaving Iraq, and they had a lot of shots of the blown up buildings and that.

First Born, currently 3 1/2, asked "Who broke the houses mummy?"*
Conversation went like this:

Mrs C: "That was the soldiers"
FB: "Oh. Were there little boys in the houses?"
Mrs C: "Well, little boys probably lived in some of them, yes."
FB: "Their daddies and mummies will be angry. They need to tell off the soldiers and make them say sorry"
Mrs C: "Yes, they probably are a little bit angry. I'm sure the soldiers didn't mean to upset them though"
FB: "Oh, ok. But when the little boys are older, they will be angry too."

The moral of this story is that my three year old son has more common sense about the long term ramifications of the anti terror activities of our governments than our governments do.

*he's hella big on things which are broken needing fixing. He currently wants to work where they fix trains, apparently. When we explained that he needs to go to school before he can get a job, he announced he needs to go to school next week.

:) :'( :)

So he's against military adventures, has a good awareness of the underlying problem of the instability and unrest in the Middle East, wants to fix broken things such as the planet, knows the value of education AND he's dedicated to making the trains run on time? Kissyfur's son for glorious leader! The campaign starts here!

I, for one, welcome our new 3 and a 1/2 year old overlord.

You should send that to some of those magazines which pay hard cash for stories such as this and put said hard cash to beer his election campaign.

You could use that eagerness to your advantage. "Before you can get a job fixing trains, you have to go get Daddy a beer and then be quiet all evening".

Remember, other parties baby-rattled by the campaign success of your tiny JFK may attempt to field their own - possibly even younger - candidates. A smear campaign will be in order.

I recommend smearing the baby food around the mouth and eyes. Make it look like they haven't even the wit to be able to feed themselves yet.

Sounds like you're raising a bit of a pansy there, Kissyfur. He'll never be cut out for a career in the military.
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
I am very muchly joking, this post was excellent and definitely worthy of its own thread. :)
