Er, this is a bit fucking good. It's fun and a bit puzzly, and it has excellent twin stick shooter style controls. Get it. It's better than Limbo.

In spite of my rabid hatred for all things Lara, downloading now. Although at 2.02GB it'll be sometime tomorrow before I can play it by the looks of things.

Looks good from what I've seen so far, I'll check out the demo.

I'm sorely tempted to crown this the greatest XBLA game ever. It's so polished and fun. And it's not just about completing it - there are little mini challenges to do for extra points - and you actually want to do them as well. This is a seriously good little game. Can't wait to try out co-op as well - apparently it essentially changes the entire game - all of the puzzles and stuff are different.

It makes all of the other Summer of Arcade games look pretty shoddy really.

I'm considering Jonarob's history here. Did he ever actually play BF1943 with us?!

My word! The "Beat a better mousetrap" achievement is ace! Took me a few minutes to work out exactly how to go about it, then it was a case of getting it done. You'll know what I mean when you get to the bit I'm talking about :)

Yes I did you slut. And I seem to recall being massively massively right about that as well. If you don't want to spend 1200 points, don't. There's a demo and plenty of reviews. :hat:

Is this bugged? I fell down some stairs after the fire-trap room and wound up back near the start of the level. Now, after working my way back to the grapple hook before the fire-trap room I'm finding that the game won't let me grapple across the chasm or, when I use spears to get across, open the door to the fire-trap room.
Maybe I'm missing something, but it looks bugged to me. Shame, as it was okay up till that point (not worth 1200 points or anything, but okay).
Also - TWO FUCKING GIGABYTES? For this? Is there really that much shit voice acting in it?

It's not the room itself, but the one after it, with a staircase leading down. Except that when you try and descend the stairs you can't see where Lara is going. First time I did it she fell somewhere and died. Second time she fell again, and somehow managed to land in a room back near the start of the level. When I eventually got back to the room before the spinning fire trap, the game just refused to open the door into it.

I played through the first level in the trial and thought it were reet good. So I bought it. I've only done the first level so far going back through it to tick off the challenges etc. The under 6 minutes one could be a bit of an ask.

Really enjoying it though - perfect arcade fodder well executed.

Yep! I'm also wondering how the "complete it under X minutes" challenges can be done. Some of them are seriously tight. The extra little challenges are a brilliant touch, though. I'm just waiting for my girlfriend to come round so we can play the co-op version which is apparently a totally different game with different puzzles and stuff. She was pretty good at Lego Star Wars, so hopefully I can get the cheevos! :hat:

It's such a polished game but by the end of the demo I was really bored of it. Even though it's not really a Tomb Raider game, it gave me the exact same feeling.

And I just played two hours of Every Extend Extra Extra Extreme Every Extra Extremey Extras so I know a little about boredom.

I'm tempted to get it. ... but I'll wait for time being. Especially as the sig. other just made us buy L4D2 (and I snuck Metro2033 in with it, in a 2 for £25 deal).

Fabulous game, one of the bestest on XBLA for sure. And go buy a copy of TR:Underworld, it's like 3 quid second hand now and despite its flaws it's chuffing great.

I'm savouring every bit of it. I've done all the challenges on the first level and all but two on the second and won't move on until I've done them all.

I also want to go back to level 1 again with my automatic shotgun as that powered up with the spreadshot is somewhat devastating. Should be able to up my high score with that I reckon - shame the friends leaderboards are fooked at the moment in game.

Being the first to say Lara Croft is stonking isn't quite the majesty of bringing Minecraft to the yard, but yeah, kudos.

Also, I've played a bunch of the Tomb Raiders a bit, but this is the 2nd one I've ever bought. (TR 2 being the previous fact fans).

It's a weird cross between the dungeons in a 2D Zelda crossed with Diablo. It's ace.

It's what Diablo III would be if they were trying to make an excellent game rather than an addictive gambling one.

I seem to remember the Gaywood liking BF1943 (aside from when I was rifling his head off)

I think he was more talking about the way you enthused about how excellent it would be with Bezzies, and then never joined us - particulary when we were trying to rustle up the 16 required for a private match. You do seem to get very enthsuastic about games, but your interest in a game never really seems to last that long, which makes it hard to tell which games you consider to be a cut above the rest.

If it weren't for the 2Gb download - and my concerns about this months bandwidth usage - I'd probably be all over this.

Jonarob -- yeah but for whatever amusing piece of timing it was a week or so before you made it into a game with us, you were constantly having things come up for some reason or another. I'm pulling your leg man.

So, under 6 minutes for the first level, hmm? How the fuck do you do that then? My best time so far, ignoring all monsters, sprinting as straight as I can, and with two feathers equipped is 6:43. I see Trousers is already pwning the leaderboards, too. Shocker.

Do the barrel roll for more speed - you end up rolling through the whole level but it's bloody quick.

I'm only on level 4 - I've played each level about 5 or 6 times trying to tick off all the challenges. Best value 1200 points game by quite some way.

Just done the first level co-op with the wife. Same layout but a different way of approaching the puzzles - really good fun with only the fire puzzle causing shouty impatience on my part which she took well.

I've just done the first level in 5 mins and 48 seconds for the bread winners achievement.

Like Trousers said, barrel roll the whole way through it. Hammer the X button for all your worth!

Hang on...

Go to the marketplace, select this, and look at the details...

Offline Players 1-2 Co-op 1-2
Online Players 2 Co-op 1-2

Shameful Lies, given there is no online mode.

Ahhh. Looks stupid, works well.

I can't see me doing the speedrun targets on any level more complex than the first though. I'd imagine there's a Right Way to do the later levels and quite a bit of messing around to find it.
