OK, I've got a folder in My Documents on a little EEEPC called "Mike Shared" and it is set to 'shared', users 'maximum allowed' and permissions is for everyone to do everything. I've set up a workgroup 'mshome' on the XP netbook and I've changed my Vista box workgroup to MShome as well, and restarted. I can see the EEEpc in 'Network' from the start menu on my vista box, clicking on my eeepc asks me for a username and password so I use the one for my EEEPC. I can then see the folder 'Mike Shared' but when I click on it it says: "Mike Shared" is available but the user account that you are logged on with was denied access. It then complains it can't diagnose frther because it doesn't know the password. Well, neither do I. The only password I've got is the one for XP login, and that's the one I've typed in.

Questions then:

1: Why is this always so fucking gay?
2: How do I make it work?

what versions of xp and vista?

simple or complicated sharing?

It's always simplist if you have the same username/password combinaton on both computers.

Aye, both machines need to have user accounts and passwords setup, Windows doesn't like it if you don't have a password on a user account at either end when it comes to sharing over a network.
