So... Imagine I was an internet enabled high functioning adult tech consumer.

I have never tweeted, nor twittered, nor twitted, yet i'm feeling the need to get hip with the kids and create a twitter account. It seems like it should be another good way to waste my day other than doing an sort of work, but I just don't get it really.

Why would I want to Twitter? Who should I follow? How does it work in reality?
I assume some of you twitter already, should I follow you, what does that get me, are there prizes involved, will it make me more attractive to the opposite sex and make my hair grow?

Ta very much, that thread looks sufficiently long enough to waste the day without actually needing to sign up to twitter.

My meaning was more 'you might get a better response/idea if you post your question in that thread' rather than 'here's 40 pages to read', but to be honest I think the best way to see if you enjoy it is to sign up (it's free, after all) sign up a few friends/folks from here, stick it on a desktop app and se if you like it. If not, just stop looking at it

Good idea, I shall do exactly as you say.

I think it is because twitter, moreso than most online communication/social media innovations polarises opinions. Some find it fun, maybe even useful, others just don't 'get' it at all. It's like asking if you should you will like Marmite.
