I'm in central London on Saturday 24 July. Anyone around in the early evening (or later) and fancy a drink somewhere in the gleaming metropolis?

So long as I can get back to Victoria Station to board the Oxford Tube I'll be fine *

* A fine drunken moment - I once boarded a taxi very late, and said to the driver that I only had a fiver - please take me as close to the station as you can. I only had to walk an extra 20 minutes

Regrettably, whilst I'm roughly in the area (I'll be in Hemel Hempstead) I will be attending my brother's wedding. Otherwise I'd have been there.

I rarely plan that far ahead. Also I have two friends with birthdays on the 23rd, however, if I am free, I should be able to turn up, get drunk, and shout at you.

At a wedding.

Unsurprisingly.

I'm in Wales that weekend taking my daughter to an orientation weekend at Atlantic College and I think we're actually expected to attend a barbecue at the college on that actual night.

I'll let you know tomorrow.

I suspect I am busy, as I recall not having free weekends until August.

:(

Ooh! Paper Mill, Apsley, for a mini-BEEX meet? Bring Shin!

(Although probably best for the purposes of family unity that you stay at your brother's wedding!)

Thanks to Grim... for the reminder. Um, yes, forgot about this!

I am in central London and can be free from 17:00. Anyone know of any decent pub in the area, if people are around and fancy a drink with me plus, possibly, one or two friends of mine. Somewhere reasonable with food near Trafagaler Square would be a good start.

Hmm. Obviously the places near (and not so near) Traf Square are over-priced tourist traps.
I don't mind that so much (Opal bar nearby is good, we had the Beex Christmas meet there, although the drinks literally cost twice as much on Saturdays), but, well, just stating the obvious.

Far more. You'll note I mentioned I didn't really care in the post above.

Sorry, I'll definitely be hung over for this, and suffering from miscellaneous stumblejuice-fuelled injuries.

Ok, currently I'm planning to be in the Old Shades, 37 Whitehall, from 19:00. Naturally, if we move due it being busy/crap/etc I'll happily let people know, and if anyone knows of anywhere better in that area please tell me (I've more or less dropped a pin in a map).

My cell phone is on my profile on Sinister Facebook or PM me.

I'm 50/50 on going off-roading OOP NARTH that day, so I'm officially a "maybe".

I wouldn't worry too much, even if he gets upset & goes on a rampage he can only fire every 30 seconds or so. Just kick Craster in the knee & run :DD

Heh, I knew there was something significant about the date:

Wikipedia wrote:
The Second Battle of Kernstown was fought on July 24, 1864, at Kernstown, Virginia outside Winchester, Virginia, as part of the Valley Campaigns of 1864 in the American Civil War.

And it's not a problem - I've arranged to catch up with some old friends who I've not seen in yonks. Still, if anyone does fancy stalking me, please say 'You are Kern and I claim my £5' and you might get a smile.
