Hello,

Do any of you chaps and chaplettes have any experience with flump/UKdedicated?

My domain is going to expire at some point soon and I got a one month warming two weeks or so ago with a link to renew. The link didn't work the first few times, but then a week or so later took me to a card payment submission area. Since then I have tried to pay via card, but pressing submit just takes me to an error message.

I have emailed for the third time and at no point has anybody got back to me. If they don't get back to me and I lose my domain because I can't renew it I will be mad.

This is obviously obvious, but try phoning them.

Domains are usually suspended from having any changes made to them for a period of a couple of weeks after they expire, so you should have time to fix this.

Sorry, yes, I meant to add that I have phoned and nobody has ever answered. Sir Hugh, I really hope you are right. Obviously I am getting a bit worried as I have already been trying for two weeks and have no reason to trust that they are going to get back to me in the next two, either :(

Lo and behold, someone replied. OK, made payment through some other strange portal. Dr Who would be proud.

We use UKDedicated, 123reseller and Flump for all of our hosting services here at work (different companies for different types of hosting, but all the same parent company) and can't fault their support at all.

Maybe they are just having an 'off' fortnight, but it has happened to me once before, trying to get in touch with them to no avail. Perhaps it's because your company are a business and make them a lot more money than I would do, or as I say, it could just be that every time I try to contact them they are having a naff phase.

You could contact another domain registration company and ask them to help you transfer the domain to them. As long as you can receive e-mail sent to the root admin e-mail address registered via the WHOIS this should be quite straightforward. Having the authorisation ID for the domain would be handy. Can you view the details via Open SRS?

https://manage.opensrs.net

If you're talking about the domain I think you're talking about then http://www.enom.com is the registrar. They are normally very helpful (in my experience). Their contact details: #contactus">http://www.enom.com/aboutus.asp#contactus

Your new registrar will need the IPS Tag of your old registrar, but this could be hard to obtain if they're not talking to you.

Hi Sir Hugh,

Thanks for that info, I think I am going to move it as it happens. I have had a few problems in the past and now that I don't have the immediate issue worrying me I can work out what will be the best thing to do.

Grim and Curio corrected my spelling on a note I wrote last night.
