This is interesting. It just appeared in my GMail ad bar.

You order games as if they were a retailer. Your card is charged £13 and you get the game on release day. You play it. If you return it any time in the next four weeks you have nothing further to pay. If you don't return it, your card is charged a further £27 and the game is yours.

Economically, it's equivalent to trading a new game in four weeks later for £27 -- which is more than you usually get. And if you want to keep it, you're still only paying a fairly normal £40 overall. The only other restriction is that you can only have two games out at once (to cap their liability, I imagine). I assume the games have to go back in mint condition too.

Interesting model, this.

Assuming the company aren't shysters, mind.

Do you have to pay to return the games?

I wonder what happens with "exclusive content" codes and suchlike. I notice they're offering the new Tiger Woods game which will have a code to play mulitplayer, without it the game can't be worth much at all.

Not massively of beenfit if most of the online retailers sell new games at knock-down prices. Interesting concept though.

The 13 quid sounds too good to be true. I'd certainly give it a go though, which is no doubt what they are banking on - you try out more new releases rather than "waiting and seeing" and you either like them enough or are too lazy to return it.

Cheevo-hores will be all over it!

I'd never send anything back.

That's what they want though.

I wonder who they sell the second hand returns to?

£40 for a video game? Never pay more than thirty, myself.

Grim... Do you mean you wouldn't send anything back and not pay?

Surely people would do that?

I assume they have your credit card details from where they already charged you 13 quid.

No, I mean that I'm terrible with these things. I think they sound great, like Lovefilm, so I get my DVDs and then I never send them back. I'd buy these games for £13, but I'd never send them back either, and it would cost me a fortune.
