So, there's the 3DS, the new Zelda game for the Wii, Donkey Kong Wii as developed by Retro Studios, all to come, plus whatever surprises they catapult in our general consumer direction...

I can't say I'm excited. These announcements generally seem to be a new hardware revision or a new franchise re-hash recently. I guess it's too much to expect something as drastic as the initial Wii announcement though.

True, but then 3DS is an entirely new hardware format (at least, I hope, as I'm sick of minor DS revisions), so it may just impress us gamer types the some degree. Perhaps.

I'd like to see some relaxing of their DRM scheme. Right now, if you buy a WiiWare or DSiWare game, it's tied to the device forever; people upgrading from DSi to DSiXL, for example, lost their games. That's no good. Nintendo have identified iOS as their greatest competitor in the handheld gaming space and I think they need to beef up their support for on-device shopping for smaller impulse buy games. That requires more work on the server side. It's hard for them though, Nintendo are actually shocking at software (the Wii's OS is an absolute piece of shit under the covers).

agree massively. I was so excited for wiiware but the preposterous drm huge prices and NO DEMOS means that's I've ignored the service. Nintendo aren't so much battle the iPod TOuch as battle a whole method of content delivery.

That said much more excited for this talk. I've no problems with "casual games"* just with souless rip offs.

It'll be interesting to see what they have. How much I'm creaming myself over galaxy 2 has helped too.

On train though so no live feed for me. For shame.

So, so far a new Zelda (looks very good indeed), Mario Sports Mix, some casual nonsense (Wii Party), Golden Sun for the DS, and now a GoldenEye Wii-make starring a virtual Daniel Craig.

So far complete re-hash.

Woo Golden Eye... again with stupid controller. I can't remember it ever being *amazing* but I remember it being a good FPS for a console.

It was amazing at the time (1997). First FPS with levels designed like 'real' architecture, for example. Played far better than the competition at the time too. Still the only FPS I really like, incidentally.

Hmm, Nintendo have just unveiled a literal Mickey Mouse videogame. Reminds me of an Rare game for the Nintendo 64, in a good way.

Now it's Kirby in the style of the fabric-themed graphics of Yoshi's Story.

Ironically their OS fails cause me to be able to hack the shit out of their DRM and play what I like, which makes you wonder why I bother. I wouldn't try to hack my 360 or Android though, too much hard work and risk.

Well. Er. That was suprisingly ace.

Only read the eurogamer feed and caught the live show at kid icurus - but it was all ace stuff.

They certainly learnt a lesson from the feed back from the last couple. It was E3 but about side scrolling platformers, blue skies and fun. Quite excited.

Highlights how embarrassing it is to have MS (& I guess Sony) copy where they used to be, rather than where they are now.

(My * early was so I could rant about how stupid the term 'casual' game is.)

TBH I think what made it so special was that it was a movie tie in and actually good. I think so many people were surprised by that alone.

This is the Nintendo E3 Keynote I was expecting in about 2008, 3DS aside. Good use of classic ip and 2D platformy goodness, but the Wii has been and gone for me now really, despite it still being under my telly.

Prediction: Eyes will get all kinds of fucked moving from the 3D to 2D screens, so games with a lot of that will be nasty.

The long-awaited return of Kid Icarus appears to be in "Sin and Punishment rip-off" form. But that's fine, because we definitely need more Sin and Punishment. Even though its sequel's only just been released here. :luv:

Other M is looking better, too. I still want to see more environments that don't look like generic sci-fi space station interiors, but the lack of hokey exposition, dialogue or other NPC interaction in the trailer has certainly been encouraging.

I do like the graphics for the upcoming Zelda game. Part Wind Waker, part Twilight Princess... Nice.

It doesn't seem to have been bandied about much, but there's a lengthier trailer for it here. The new Moblins look delightfully goofy. :DD

Eurogamer have an absolutely gushing writeup of a hands on with the 3DS. I'm interested, I have to say.
