I'm not sure if there's already a thread. I started one on Bistro but anyway.

So, Lost Cities. Really likeable game. 800 pts is maybe a bit much but I love these chilled out games (especially Carcassonne).

Lots of fun anyway (although a bit hard to play in standard def according to a friend of mine).

The HD trailer for 1942 was also available yesterday.

Not sure if I like the look of it really - seems as if they've made it overly busy but maybe that's just the quick edits in the trailer.

As long as it's not a memory-based bullet hell thing I'll be happy. That said, I've not checked the trailer yet.

I'm still mostly excited about Assault Heroes 2. It looks great, even better than Commando 3.

Anyone daft enough to fork out 800 points for Wits & Wagers today? By the second round of the demo I'd given up on it.

I was looking forward to W&W but it was frankly, a bit crap. No flow to the game, makes you read dull things before you press the button for Next, yawn inducing music...no-one could say it's a fun party game.

I still like Pub Trivia on the speccy, the one with the pyramid of cards you had to work you way to the top of. They should remake that.

I managed to finish the first level of Ikaruga earlier! I am very proud.

Arcade Trivia Quiz?

ATQ has a lot more pace than most quiz games do.

I was thinking of Pub Trivia. But your game looks very very similar.

But the eightiescentric questions are the best bit (apart from the sport, but then I'd be just as bad with contemporary sport ones). A remake would ruin it. And the questions would end up being sourced from Wikipedia. And wrong.

yep.

AssHeroes 2 is going to be amazing. looks even better than that new Commando game.

AssHeroes 1 was fantastic up there with Omega Five as my joint top XBLA title. Typically Mr Trousers here murdered my score on it. aside from that mine was respectable i think.

"Murdered" would be what Malc74 has done to my Ikaruga score. I've slipped by your Assault Heroes score by a cat's cock hair.

It's one of the most popular games I own. However, I balk at paying for an xbox version, when (1) I already have the proper card game and (2) There's a perfectly free online version of it available anyway (along with Catan and Carcassonne)

I don't mean to hijack this thread.. and I think I already know the answer to my question but anyone wnat to offer some advice?

I've just purchased an Xbox 360 off a friend. There's quite a few XBLA games on there and various other things he's downloaded. I'm guessing that these are all assigned to his gamertag. If I sign up to Xbox live under my own name, and thus create a new profile, will this wipe all the games on the hard drive and make them unusable?

I'm thinking that it will to be honest... I could just change the gamertag but they're wanting 800 points for that.. however much that is?!?

Or I could just use his gamertag for the time being until I'm feeling flush.. It's not the worst gamertag I've ever heard.

Oh yeah, and I'm sure I'll be asking plenty more Xbox 360 questions in the coming weeks.. it's confusing me loads! Nothing like the Wii. That was simple.

Games will work on (1) All gamertags on the console they were bought on and (2) any console if using the gamertag they were bought with.

If you ever have to replace that box of course, you will lose access.

Oh and you're the Xbox Vision, I was ignoring that friend request because it screamed spam, sorry :)

(Other people who add me, do drop a quick message if you're from here, even if it's just "x from bex", I get a lot of silly friend requests because of the gamertag.

Yeah, I'm TheXboxVision... I used that thing that Grim set up to add everyone on here. I wasn't really sure what was going on but still.

If I do have to replace the console, then couldn't I recover the original gamertag with my friends permission? I could then download all the games again and then recover my new gamertag hence making the replacement Xbox the same as the one I have now...

Which is working fine and dandy so I don't know why I'm even thinking about this eventuality...

Gah, my brain has been taken over by Microsoft and everything Xbox!!

You'll probably still need to call and bitch at MS (which might require address details etc from the friend) but yes.

I think he just meant he gets lots of random friends requests from people he doesn't know. I do, too; I think it's something to do with having a Gamertag that's just one word, no numbers. I suspect people can do searches on things like MyGamerTag.net and mine is pretty unique and "interesting" to someone looking through a list.

I remembered your name from the Bittorrent thread and put 2 and 2 together though.

Yeah it's just that everyone knows a "Dudley" and for some reason assumes I'm them.

I've even had (incredibly badly written) threats if I don't change name to let their mate "Dudley" have his rightful gamertag back. Including on more than one occasion accusations I stole it. Interesting given I've maintained a constant account since I was in the first public beta stage.

Well that makes much more sense. Thanks for explaining.

By the way, I was born and raised in Dudley in the West Midlands so therefore I claim the right to that name. Please box it up and send it to my house otherwise I shall come round with a knuckle sandwich!

I've always assumed he got it from the character Duddits/Dudley in the Dreamcatcher novel/film by Stephen King. Having met him, I'd almost put money on this.

And you'd lose that money.

It's from an supposed early teenage resembelance to Dudley Moore.

I don't entirely get it either.

Assault Heroes 2. Oh dear.

controls fucked, visuals fucked, all new stuff comes across as showboating rather than being nice little touches.

Should have been the best game on Live, instead it's just a bit blaverage.

i'd think twice about that unless you've got a lot of love for the DC/GC version.

it looks nice enough but is nothing but a hateful memory test.

Commando 3 = not that good. the viewpoint doesnt help your aiming and the presentation seems a bit weak. More fun that AssHeroes 2 but not a patch on AssHeroes 1.

Frogger = just like all the 3D Frogger games you got on the PS1/DC/PS2. But not in 3D.

I got Commando 3 for the SFIIHDSDJDAJSJA Beta demo thing, only to realise it doesn't activate until the 25th. Should I bother with the actual game I paid for?

Yep, the demo was very disappointing, so I won't be buying the full version. It's not bad as such, just a bit average, and certainly not worthy of the Commando name.

I bought Commando 3 because I thought the first level was ok and maybe the later ones would be good. Alas it seems not.

The 2nd level is a fucking ridiculous visual mess with scenery in the foreground obscuring your view of the on screen action. Makes you dead happy when something you had no chance of seeing shafts your multiplier.

I tried the demo last night but I won't be buying the full game. It's more Mercs (I only realised last night that Mercs was the sequel to Commando) than Commando but it's not as good as either really. I'd have probably been more likely to buy a tarted-up version of the original Commando or Mercs.

kind of tempted by the 3-player co-op aspect though. but after your opinion Trousers I don't think I'll bother. the only thing this had going for it was the clear visuals and if they get scuppered on level 2, the game will suck.

AH2 and Commando3. Bah!

anyone bothering with Frogger?

I was pleasantly surprised by E4 - it does a fantastic job of convincing you that you're not just sitting there pressing one button every six seconds or so.

I still don't have the faintest idea what all those numbers at the bottom of the screen actually mean though.
