I looked on there and what confuses me is that a 16gig card is 33 quid but a 32gig card is Ninety. Surely it should be sixty six pounds? But an eight gig card is twelve quid so a sixteen should be 24 and a 32gig 48 quid. It's not like I'm trying to buy Xbox storage here!

Apparently not. They're pretty much 90 quid everywhere. I might just not bother my arse then, I wanted to use the bundled 4 gig from my new phone in my R4 and this have every DS game I'd ever want in the unit, all the time and thought I might as well get a 32 gigger for convenient massive mp3 damage in my phone but never mind.

It just a consequence of the incredible miniturisation that's needed to shoehorn that much storage into something you can accidentally inhale.
