The hack: http://geohotps3.blogspot.com/ allows attacks into the hypervisor from under the "Other OS" feature, which allows fat PS3s to boot Linux.

The new firmware: http://games.slashdot.org/story/10/03/2 ... om-the-PS3

Makes no odds to me as I'm on a slim PS3 anyway, but it's nice to see that Sony are continuing their tradition of removing all of the functionality from their consoles.

Aren't people quite keen on being able to boot Linux on their PS3s?

Yes indeed. They are also quite keen on continuing to play the PSN games they've paid for. Now they have to make a choice :S
