Well that wasn't one of my orders there. I'm sure that Mrs Miggins got her carrots yesterday too.

There's a new MacHeist bundle up: http://www.macheist.com

For $20:
  • MacJournal - MacJournal organizes all your important information and helps chronicle your life faster and easier than ever before. Create a personal journal with MacJournal's simple-to-use interface, and add any kind of content, PDFs, QuickTime movies, images, and text. Experience how easy it is to keep your journal at your fingertips, or even online with built-in blogging tools.
  • Ripit - It seems like forever since you were manually popping a CD into a player to listen to music. So why are you still doing this for your DVDs? RipIt makes it virtually effortless to import your DVDs to your Mac, AppleTV, or iPhone… simply pop in a disc and it does all the work for you, automatically.
  • Clips - Clips is copy & paste reinvented. Forget about each new copied item erasing your clipboard: copy everything you might want to paste, and paste whatever you’d like when you need it from your clipboard manager. Once Clips is integrated into your workflow, you’ll wonder how you ever used your Mac without it.
  • Flow - On the Mac, you've become accustomed to software that's not just powerful, but elegant too. We think FTP should be like this too. Flow brings the best of the Mac to your server's files and folders. Put simply, Flow makes working remotely every bit as intuitive and natural as working locally with the Finder.
  • Tales of Monkey Island - needs no introduction.
  • Rapidweaver - With powerful tools under the hood, yet a beautifully-familiar user interface built especially for Mac OS X Leopard, RapidWeaver is ideal for anyone looking to create a beautiful website. Whether it's your first or five-hundreth website, RapidWeaver has all the tools you need to quickly create pages you'll be proud of.
The last two will only be unlocked if they sell 50,000 bundles. It's been live for a few hours, runs all week, and has sold 7,500 copies already.

Nothing earth shattering, but not bad for $20 even if you're only going to use a few of those apps once in a long while.

This has now unlocked the two apps, and expanded to include:
  • Tracks -- menubar remote control for iTunes
  • Airburst Extreme -- game of some sort
  • Burning Monkey Solitaire -- "Solitaire" as in cards
  • Tweetie -- best desktop Twitter app I've used

The addition of Tweetie is a very nice bonus. 22 hours left if you want to get it.

Would that somehow give me L4D2 on steam?

And thus L4D2 on my Mac?

Or I wonder if I should wait in case there will be offers at mac launch....

HMMMM!

Yes it would.

It can also be traded into CEX for £9 cash/£11 credit it would seem.

If I add it to steam, then can I still trade it without losing access? Doesn't that screw over the next owner /clueless

Hmmm and the orange box for PC is £9.99 too.

So that would be all of them on steam then, for £20 smackers, just in time for the mac launch...

This also assumes it would work on a current macbook. (2.26Ghz, 4Gb Ram, Nvidea 9500 with 256Mb shared ram..)

I suspect any launch offer for Steam won't be that good....
Or would it....

Unlikely that any launch offer would be that good, or better, but trying to predict steam sales is a route to madness.

Well, this is the crazy thing. As far as I am aware, retail Valve/Steamworks games come with a one time use serial that you can add to your steam account, then you can throw the game away.

But it seems that CEX will accept them as tradeins, so I don't know what is going on. I don't think that the license can be revoked, and I think they are basically coasters once the serial has been used.

You would think that CEX would have noticed this by now, but apparently not.

I am fairly certain that Source engine games will run fine on those specs.

Cheers. I'll give them a go.

I thought L4D2 was a carbon copy expansion pack of a game, so a £10 is a spot on price for it. Especially as it will give me a shooter for the laptop.

Oh go on , just a splash though I'm with the missus (OMG SPOILERZ!)

I'm looking at it as £4.50 , if i get a few hours out of it i'll get a few quid (or points) for passing it on afterwards (and probably some cheivos as well)

If its a misprice and it doesnt come off then I've lost a few minutes to go through the site and click the buy button

My Bionic Commando has just arrived.

Just as a warning, Dr. Lave, when I was at Gamestation, we would not allow any Valve games to be traded in with us because of the whole 'one-time-use' serial number. Maybe Cex have a different attitude to it as sometimes it's worth taking the hit over something like that to get extra people through the doors.

It is true though, the disc becomes a coaster as soon as you install a HL2 and beyond Valve game for the first time. Not only will it automatically be added to your Steam account, allowing you to play it without the disc in the drive from then on, you'll be able to download it from Steam in the future in case you want to reinstall the game but have lost the disc.

I think these (Sennheiser CX-300 II 'Eco' Earphones) headphones have been discussed on here before. £13.99 now.

I'm posting this more as a reminder for me to order some when I get home.

Another Mac app bundle -- 11 apps for $50. Most of the apps are so-so but the standout is Parallels Desktop 5, the best virtual machine tool for OS X, that normally sells for $80 on its own. This is the best way to run Windows under OS X, and is fast enough for modest gaming, even. So if you have any use for Parallels Desktop this could be a compelling deal.

(Zio, nah, I don't plan to flog it on, I was just wondering if I had a right to resell it)

Not that it matters, GAME sent me a copy of L4D2 that had a big sticker removed from the front. A huge tear in teh case, a peeling off front and a crack with big pieces missing. Oh and no serial code.

Which is pretty much a joke.

Sent them a frustrated email. No L4D2 this weekend for me then. I knew I made a mistake when I saw amazon selling it for the same price.

Just Cause 2 preorder from Zavvi. £32 with use of "SALE3" voucher.

Note that the limited editon is £36.85 less 4% quidco from Shopto though. Has a few unique vehicles and guns and a paper map of the island.
