All probably true, aye. I still think they're trying to play this a bit, though.

I think it's a terrible idea, and is just going to annoy people that don't care.
Unless you're a techie, it's quite likely you don't know what a browser is (citation). People are not going to understand what they're being asked, then get angry that computers don't "just work". All they want, if we're being honest, is something that lets them get to Google so they can search for "facebook login".
And before you start squeaking about how Apple computers do "just work", these people aren't going to differentiate one make of computer from another.

Indeed, and the website popping up is likely to look like spam or a virus has attacked their computers. It looks like it'll do more harm than good.

I've set my mum up with Chrome, but she hasn't the faintest idea what that exactly means. She knows browsers look a bit different, and she now knows Flash doesn't work in 64-bit IE, but that's about as far as it goes. If it does the job, it's okay as far as she's concerned, and rightly so.

I've never used a Mac, aside from briefly in the Apple store, so I certainly won't be saying anything like that ;)

The time as at last arrived where you can have a camera inserted into your hog's eye which feeds the output to a screen wrapped around your shaft. I'm so privileged.

It might not pop up then - on my Windows 7, it automatically deselected that update, presumably as I have Chrome. Though my boss got it on his XP, and he's got Chrome too. I think I may have spotted it trying to download on my work machine and told it to get bent forever, not quite sure. Perhaps something improved in the Windows 7 way of recording what's installed?

It's supposed to check for installed non-IE browsers before popping up, apparently. It certainly hasn't popped up for me, but replacing IE is one of the first things I do on a fresh install.

As far as I'm aware, Adobe still haven't released a 64-bit Flash plugin for Windows. I think there's a Linux one, but obviously that's no good.

One of my work colleagues just suggested to another colleague that tomorrow morning they should "touch base". This is only his second day on the job, so should I let him off this time or should it still be INSTANT CHAINSAW DEATH!? >:(

Task him with pushing the outside of an envelope. Not pulling at it, nor pushing at the inside to move the outside. He has to push the outside.

Remind him to "Max the envelope", "Overshoot the extreme" & "Underscore the denominator". Making horns with your hands & shouting "WOO!" afterwards is optional but encouraged.

I miss my FE college. Where I did A-levels. Great times; it was like the good bits of school and university, without the authoritarian rules of the former, and the crushing financial pressure of the latter. Unfortunately I've been told it's since become rather too school-like when a new principle took over. Plus I'd imagine it'd be a right pain to do A-levels these days, with all the compulsory meaningless crap on top of the A-levels.

Hang on, why? They haven't entered you for the exams!
.
Also, my programme manager and project manager say 'touch base' all the time. Also, 'a bunch of', 'gotten' and 'off of'; there is a plethora of misused 'myselfs'* and my MD said in an 'all hands briefing' 'realignment of core strategies' to 'maximise synergies'. Bullshit bingo is so easy at my place.

I'm sure you had a good teacher back then... I've ended up with a complete moron! I'm seriously considering putting a complaint in when I've finished the course.

She makes things up as she goes along, she doesn't tell us half the stuff we need, she tells us to google things rather than teach us things and tonight.. tonight is the final night for handing stuff in and she tells us she's already taught us how to reference things when she clearly hasn't!

She's a clot.. a downright fucking clot!

You can tell I'm angry.. I think that's the first time I've swore on this forum.

EDIT - She finally managed to get me entered for the exams with a £100 fine for signing up late.. Don't worry, I'm not paying!

Ahhhhh. Spring is in the air.

What a great day I had :) Off down to the seaside for Fit et Shit and then for a lovely walk. Then went out cruising in the M3 and had KFC for dinner.

Wootij.

You could always change "touch base" to "touch helmets" & pretend it's an [rugby for forward throwing cheaters] analogy instead of just me being vulgar.

Tea drinkers! Teapig's "spiced winter red tea is lovely", straight from their website it's nearly a fiver for 15 bags but you can pick them up elsewhere for fewer money.
