That's harsh, but then not even nearly as bad as having your fiancée cheat on you. You're better off; Danielle is lovely.

Very much :this:, on all counts.

Few things disgust me as much as infidelity.

Shit! That reminds me, I owe you An Regaling :(

Advocacy assessment today. Time to slip on the Civil Suit and go get a default judgement.

It allows Microsoft to pull dick moves with web standards, which is bad for the market.

Popular franchises, in a nutshell. The big games, like Final Fantasy, Call of Duty, Forza, Gran Torismo, MGS, etc.

He does appear to be An Mental, but the first time I'm actually starting to feel more on his side than usual. Not to the extent of donating to his sue fund, obviously, but enough to read the article at least :)

When you have an internal bulletin listing who is on holiday each week that is sent to all sites, why do those sites suddenly take it upon themselves to ring you more often during your holiday week than at any other time?

In brief, Mr Everiss said some things about Evony that they did not like regarding the game, and the company and ends up facing a court case about it in Oz. Mr Everiss then decides to do some research and publish things about the firm and the owner that makes it on his website. He gets letters about this and possibly faces MOAR COURT in the UK now, after his case in Oz at the end of the month.

I see. So, in a nutshell, Bruce has basically tried to tell the world that Evony are, at best, cheeky fuckers and, at worse, fraudalent. They've then got cross and tried to sue for defamation. He's then posted intimate details of people behind the game and their familes.

Seems like a noble cause gone a teensy bit batshit insane, that does.

Indeed, all those zillions of sales are fictional.

He may have a point about the pricing collapse though. I'm not sure the sub-£2 pricing of almost everything in the app store is good for the market, long term (although unlike Bruce I'm not sure it's bad for the market either).

His piracy position is way off, though. It is trivially easy to pirate any App Store product on a jailbroken device, but jailbreaking is a lot less common these days, and anecdotally people don't bother pirating 69p apps.

Ooh! I had a question about the app store! Why do some things you read say there are around 120,000 apps on it, when I thought there were a million?

[edit]Because they're confusing downloads with applications. Carry on!

That's exactly what I would've said too.

And the "underpricing" trend will surely self-correct if it really has a negative effect.

Bit of culinary cockup yesterday. I was making chili, and Mrs Metal decided to help and so she was browning the mince while I changed out of office stuff (and fighting with my fucked Play N Charge cable). She then decided to help further by adding Dave's (Insanity Sauce) to it.

The thing is, I put a DROP of Dave's in to give a slight kick. I don't liberally shake the bottle over it. She couldn't understand my alarm and encouraged me to serve dinner already. "You'll see," I said.

Sure enough, she gulped down several drinks and didn't even finish her portion! Oops.

"I've learned my lesson!" she cried as she ran off to stand in the shower with the water cascading into her mouth. :luv:

It looks like a good portion of the secondary browser choices there are IE-based, and some of them are so obscure they're barely listed anywhere on the Internet. I find the choices listed there to be dodgy to say the least.

edit: 5 of 7 secondary browsers use Trident, it seems.

edit edit: the random sorting is JavaScript-based, too. Running the page with JavaScript disabled sees IE in the top spot 100% of the time. Surely they could randomise server-side?

Why load their servers? 99% of the people who this is aimed at have never heard of "javascript", never mind gone to the effort of switching it off. Hell, 75% of the remaining 1% still have it enabled.
