So I'm doing a 10k run (for charidee) in May and starting training today having done no cardio since September last year. What I want is some new music to run along to and figured the hive is the best means of finding it.

Here's what I listen to mostly when exercising so find me something new to listen to like this please thank you very much;

Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, PWEI, Renegade Soundwave, Pitchshifter, Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, Prodigy, Pendulum, Stone Sour, Soil, Clutch, AC/DC, System of a Down, NiN & Rammstein.

Over to you hive.

In the industrial dance-type direction, you could try Overseer and the album Wreckage (you've probably heard the track 'Velocity Shift'). Early Chemical Brothers stuff is good, too.
A new Drum 'n' Bass artist I recently heard is Rollz - here is a track of his. Also good is the rather new-on-the-scene type of music called drumstep, which is basically a mixture of the huge bass you get from dubstep and the amen-type beats from Drum & Bass, like this. But what I do is download the Fabio and Grooverider show from Radio 1 to cover all my D'n'B needs.

I still quite like some of the old Roni Size stuff. Is that cool? Was it ever?

Yeah, not listened to him in a long while though.

Go back a bit further and get stuff from Suburban Bass & Moving Shadow labels too if you're into D&B.

Can't really advise, but personally I'm listening to John Peel shows from 1993 at the moment, and fast forwarding between the dull indie guitar bits to find the obscure techno and jungle tracks.

e.g. http://peel.wikia.com/wiki/08_October_1993

Oooh, are these shows actually available to download/listen to anywhere. My mates old band in session is apparently available according to that wiki?

Yep, check the links at the bottom, it's a megadownload thing so there's hoops to jump through but it's worthwhile.

Fantastic, many thanks. Sorry it was that simple - I thought i'd have to faff around with newsgroups or something of that ilk. That's my listening sorted for the next 6 months...!

I imagine Roni Size 'In The Mode' would be good to run to. 'Who Told You', would probably spur you on.

It doesn't sound like it'd be your bag but I like to go for a run (but not in this weather thank you) while listening to 'Mr Scruff'. Try that!

I find that old drum and bass sounds simplistic and easily outdated.
I loved Roni Size back in the day, but I listened to some last month and it sounded tinny and thin.

Well I still love breakbeat techno era stuff (91-94) before Jungle and D&B had established itself properly. Some fantastic tracks around then.

I'm not reading anything above my no-nonsense.

We should grab the 6 Music equipment after their closed and setup radio beex... we'd obviously get grants from the BBC to setup such a thing.

This, absolutely.
As I've really no idea of what any of it was called (artist or genre), that's why I'm re-listening to old JP shows from back in the day :)

I am currently listening to DrumFunk Vol 1, mixed by Drum and Bass producer Paradox. It's bloody good.

Myp suggested Corrosion of Conformity in a PM which is currently looking rather good along with some other stuff I haven't had chance to try out yet.

Going to go through all the suggestions kindly posted in here and concoct a BeeX Running Playlist.

Those that like the end of Tinie Tempah's #1 song but are a bit bored by the rest of it would do well to check out the DC Breaks Remix.

Anyone into Drum and Bass should be properly annoyed that they missed ten hours of the stuff on Radio 1 last night.
This page is all about it, and the links you need to bang into iPlayer Downloader are:

Hello! What's that torrent website that has 99% of all of Radio One's shows on it?
