Skype would suit me (My mobile's on 3 so I can Skype from wherever) & it does do conference calls (through its groups thingy, look at the site) but none of the cool easy to jump in jump out stuff like live (possibly others) though, you need to be invited in if you miss the start.

Playing xbox with eachother is easy enough. There's a party system and everything for talking.
