From the killcams, it seems that if you have Sleight of Hand Pro equipped, aim your sniper rifle in the vicinity of someone and then pull the trigger between the time you start to aim and actually aiming, it ALWAYS hits. Even if you were aiming a bit away from them. I must have died 6 or 7 times from that, several times to a guy who was Prestige 10 (I think). Once (we were playing S&D) in the first second of the match. He spawned, pulled up his sights (I wasn't in sight, he was standing next to a thin wall in Scrapyard) and between pulling them up and seeing anything he fired and killed two of us.

Methinks it's another glitch that needs patching.

This probably accounts for the Halo snipers.

Whereas I was really struggling with Search and Destroy.

A few reasons however mainly that I was rubbish and kept getting killed , so therefore spent most of the time sitting watching the other members of the team doing something.

It doesnt help that one of the groups we played all had the same clan tags and were all about the same point through their 3rd prestiege and then faffed about at the end when it came to defusing the bomb (oh look we've killed everyone else lets spin around / drop smoke / do anything other than end the game)

I think the group we played (and won against!) on Invasion had some good ideas on there (and it seems that heartbeat sensors would be very useful for that game mode) , one of my other problems was that i'd just opened up level 70 so had switched the main gun in a few of my classes to the AK47 which seems (on first impression) to be rubbish :-)

And while i'm here a question on prestige - from what i can see when i have the right amount of XP i can 'prestige' and by doing so i will :

Lose all the perks (and upgraded perks) I have
Lose all the new guns i've unlocked
Lose all the killstreaks i've unlocked

*Keep* the tags and icons that i've unlocked

Change my default icon to the next prestige level and go back to level 1 , having to unlock everything again ?
The advantage of this seems to be that i get access to some new challenges and icons , is there anything else to it ?

Yeah, that's pretty much it, but you do get the joy of going through and completing all the challenges again, for funs, like.

That said, even without prestiging it'll take an age to fully max out all of the weapons!

You can wait a bit after reaching level 70 to Prestige, right?

I see it as a chance to go back and work on maxxing some lower-level weapons, now that I've gained some skill with the game. I hardly ever used the M4, for example.

From what i can tell when you have the right XP you go to an option to prestige , however theres nothing to force you to select that option.

I'm now thinking that I may prestige, just to see how long it takes to do it again, compared to this run through. I am no longer as shit as I was before.

Sure. I don't think there's anything stopping you from just staying at level 70 indefinitely and working your way through the weapons - that's what some people do so they can be 1887 twats. Likewise, it's the only way you'll have the AK and RPG.

You won't, however, be able to earn some titles and emblems unless you prestige at least once.

Q - to get some of the big emblems (like Bobbys 1000 kills with a Barrett) - do you have to get all 1000 kills in one prestige, or do kills carry over between levels? I'd be well annoyed* if I realised I'd gone prestige at 999 kills and missed out.

*Actually, I wouldn't. But some people would be.

You need to get them in individual prestiges.

There's a separate one to get about a zillion kills, which only unlocks to be done once you prestige, and that carries over across all your prestiges.

I see. So I should finish off my M16 before I prestige then.

Still need to play through all the Spec Ops stuff. Did I hear there's going to be more as DLC?

I hope so. Spec Ops with a buddy is ridiculously good fun.

"Wreckage" is my favourite. I just run around like loon with my Thumper.

I think that when you prestige you open up more customisable class slots as well, although Nick woud be able to verify that.

When playing Search and Destroy I highly recommend a class set up with a silencer. Since you only have one life you have to make it count and it is amazing how much people rely on the wee map to see where they have been shot from. I use Bling so I have a red dot sight and a silencer. Then Cold Blooded pro and Ninja pro, so i have silent footsteps and I am invisible to heartbeat sensors and UAVs. I also use a claymore instead of grenade so as you can booby trap a bomb site. Smoke can also be useful as a diversion-ie fling smoke one way drawing attention to there and then sprint in the other direction.

I really enjoyed the games last night, I love playing mosh pit because of the variety you get. I think we did pretty well last night as well! I will be on at about 8.30 tonight as long as I get someone to come and stay at my house with me.

I haven't unlocked either of those [pro versions] yet, but I'm working on them with my little Covert class. I get slaughtered most of the time, though, so I just used my general Assault class for Search & Destroy last night, as I performed much, much better with it.

We did quite well last night, apart from against the obviously coordinated clans. I really wish my internet would sort itself out, though, as a fair few times I spent a good ten seconds in a lag cycle. Bah!

Yeah, you get one every other presitge... so on the 1st prestige you get one. on the 3rd another etc. etc....
I've got 7 at the moment.

I probably won't be on later tonight :((((((
Got a 6000 word essay to be doing and Im only about 1000 through it!

I can't actually remember what differences the pro upgrade makes to those perks, but I love them. I really should get used to shooting with the iron sights so as I can free up the first perk and stick something more useful in there. Shooting without a silencer can be used to your advantage as well though. In one of the games last night in the quarry, I stuck a claymore down just outside the door to bomb site B. Then I changed to my secondary unsilenced weapon and fired a shot so I appeared on the other teams radar in the hope that he would either run out of the door and hit my claymore, or start watching that door. Then I ran around the back of the building and sure enough there he was, lying on the floor aiming directly at the door where my red dot had appeared a minute before. So I shot him in the face.

Sabotage is really hard at times as well, especially when well matched like we were last night. I changed my class so many times during that match because I couldn't decide what was working best. I have a fast class set up with a light gun and marathon pro so I can run really quickly which is great for grabbing the bomb and making a dash for their site, but the bad part is that when you get there you are alone and an easy target. My wee sneaky sneaky class is great for when the start hitting kill streaks because then you are invisible to the choppers and stuff but it feels like your running really slowly. Then I also want to have scavenger equipped so I can pick up more claymores...

Cold-Blooded Pro stops you reacting to the enemy's crosshairs. Ninja Pro gives you silent footsteps, and that's the main one I want to unlock — nearly done, just need some more close kills.

You sneaky bastard. I do love silenced weapons, but I haven't spent enough time without red dots to make effective use of any iron-sighted weapons yet. And I don't want to run with Bling all the time.

I thought silenced weapons reduced their range a lot ?

Oh and for the close range stuff i did unlock dual 1889 shotguns which mush anyone closeby but are useless at more than about 4 paces.

You should use the 1887s instead. They're ace.

;)

I like rocking Bling Pro. In fact, I'm only a couple of kills from getting 900 kills using it. Eeek!

Ahhh , 18-somethingy shotguns which everyone used to kill me with , however i've found out at *any* range they seem to be rubbish - your almost close enough to knife people - however if they dont turn round in the right way and you start reloading and emptying them on someone it does look nice.

I've maxed out some perks (like Marathon) but the one i've probably used most consistantly is stopping power

I had a friend? I was going solo there, just hiding behind a wall coupled with some trees. It was good fun, but I need a lot more practice sniping.

Ah, excellent. I have the same thing, but I tend not to lose things. I've run out of batteries a few times in the past, mind, so I've learned to charge it over night if I've used it recently, or if I've left it unused for a while.

They do, but sometimes it's a worthy sacrifice. Not having that red dot appear on the radar can be a blessing.

Ahhh , 18-somethingy shotguns which everyone used to kill me with , however i've found out at *any* range they seem to be rubbish - your almost close enough to knife people - however if they dont turn round in the right way and you start reloading and emptying them on someone it does look nice.

I like rocking Bling Pro. In fact, I'm only a couple of kills from getting 900 kills using it. Eeek!

I've maxed out some perks (like Marathon) but the one i've probably used most consistantly is stopping power

I play a lot of Hardcore, so I don't use Stopping Power for that.

I will max out Bling, Stopping Power, Sleight of Hand and Scavenger easily enough this prestige. Might get Cold Blooded if I'm lucky, and possibly Commando.

I'll have got all of them to 'Pro' level though, other than One Man Army, SitRep and Danger Close.

Sit-rep is the biggest bitch to get pro.

I've been using it on my intervention class ever since I unlocked it and am only about 60odd things destroyed. and Im only 2 levels off prestiging again. it's very useful, but I do find myself chasing claymores and getting myself killed that way just trying to get it pro!

Yip - i saw most of them as well - although in the game of wasteland i did enjoy working out where you and your friend were hiding to snipe point B (?)

I had a friend? I was going solo there, just hiding behind a wall coupled with some trees. It was good fun, but I need a lot more practice sniping.

When i ran round and killed you - i got killed straight away by the guy behind the little rock just behind you (so you were sniping and so was he which is probably why you were easier to spot - double the amount of death from the one area - and its right next to the edge of the map so you cant go round the wall from the other side (the radiation flags and stuff kill you)

Ah, excellent. I have the same thing, but I tend not to lose things. I've run out of batteries a few times in the past, mind, so I've learned to charge it over night if I've used it recently, or if I've left it unused for a while.

I have 2 wireless controllers with the rechargeable packs , however since its generally just me thats playing i only used one - the misses wanted to try 1vs100 a while ago and i tried to charge the other one up to find that it hardly holds a charge at all now (i'm charging / uncharging it trying to get it back) - i have had a great kill streak end because my controller turned off so i generally have the cable plugged into my pc (closer to my chair than the xbox) and can hook it up quite quickly (i hardly ever notice the charge lights flashing on the X)

They do, but sometimes it's a worthy sacrifice. Not having that red dot appear on the radar can be a blessing.

I may have a look at them again - in general i either have the grenade launcher or red dot sight on my gun (unless i'm bling-ing it or trying to unlock something else)

How to be acebest at Domination games.
This is some of the most fun I've had with the game, and gets you a stupid amount of experience.
  • WEAPONS: Riot Shield & Thumper
  • EQUIPMENT: Smoke Grenade & Claymore
  • PERK 1: Scavanger (walking over a dead body re-arms everything including claymores and smoke grenades)
  • PERK 2: Your Choice: Lightweight for speed is possible, but Cold-Blooded* to avoid being killed and especially Danger Close to beef up your explosions are best.
  • PERK 3: Scrambler.

How to kick ass:
01 Run to the nearest flag.
02 If (enemy are trying to take flag) then (shoot thumper grenades at it)
03 Throw smoke grenade at flag
04 Run into smoke and put claymore at flag
05 Use shield to protect yourself whilst enemy try to shoot you.
06 Every time you bop a man to death or he runs over the claymore, you can use his body to get ANOTHER SMOKE GRENADE and CLAYMORE.
07 Repeat till you have flag, or flag no longer contested.

I've single handedly stopped what 5 - 7 people trying to take a flag on my own with this method. People really don't know what to do to a man with a riot shield who wont stop dropping smoke grenades.

Typically I end up with a ton of deaths (far in excess of the rest of the team) and few kills, but you'll be first or second on the leaderboard.

It's a lot of fun too.

I remember having an acebest game of DOmination with Lave on Favela, where the two of us had Riot Shields and stuck together, so anyone approaching us got confused and then crushed!

I've not used the shield much (apart from our game at the weekend) , it is something that when your running round a map and meet someone with a shield you stop and need to re-think what your doing to deal with them (Marathon / Lightweight is great because you just run around them).

I had a wonderful moment last night with randoms on Derail team deathmatch where i had a shield (and handgun equiped) plus marathon and was running around and started hearing this strange knocking noise - i turned around a corner / stoped and turned to shoot the one person behind me and the 2nd one got me - i then got the killcam which showed both the enemies running after me and taking turns at trying to knife me but just hitting the shield :-)

Awesome, remember the Thumper is crucial. Pistols or any other weapon with tempted you to try and fight firepower with firepower, which will only get you killed. The thumper is purely to kill the 5 or so people who try to take the flag inbetween you dying.

Oh and although you only get one claymore at a time, thanks to scavanger you can have 2 active at any one time.

Oh that was ace! :)

Multiple people loaded out like above with riot shields would be deadly. DEADLY.

That was one of the first games I played online I think, I came bounding round a corner in time to see that. At one point we were pretty much an entire team of Shield Cunts* except Bobby who is almost always Snipey McSniperer.

*Just like in GoW :)

I got the best kill last night.

Marched out from where I spawned, fresh with an ACOG on my gun. Sent out a random single bullet into the background, ending cleanly in someone's face. They must have been so pissed.

One game I played tonight was infuriating. You simply couldn't move for being hit by an enemy predator, Pavelow or indeed their AC-130 which was CONSTANTLY circling overhead. I just waited for the inevitable nuke, which did indeed come.

I hate that my favourite game is also so FUCKING BROKEN. Let me play a game pls, I hate this lobby.

Also-Lave, I second Malabars comments. Six of us with identical classes=non stop smoke and claymores. Shouldn't be as funny as it is.

It is annoying. I rekon if we have say 10 of us and are patient enough we could all join in progress if one person gets into a game and just sit it out for a few hours playing nearly private public matches, might get a couple of randoms but could be worth a try at some point.
